We have been the Corn Palace twice in the past forty years, before this visit. We always thought it was pretty corny, but we did appreciate the murals and the effort they required. The recent renovation, however, has diminished the experience, especially at night The exterior lighting makes it impossible to see the murals and the new domes look plain... More

The Corn Palace history is fascinating. First built to peak people's interest in growing corn in South Dakota. Then to become an amazing tourist attraction and community center for the people of Mitchell. To see how they create these murals out of corn is mind blowing. If you are in the area don't pass the Corn Palace by.

Iowa's countryside is just beautiful. Not "all flat" at all! We stumbled upon the Corn Palace and marveled at the scenes designed from corn, all shades and hues. The interior performance area is also open to view, Carmel corn to buy too! If in the area, take a peek, cute little town, interesting "Palace".

This is a key part of South Dakota's history and a monument to their tenacity. When you go be sure to watch the movie they have set up on the stage of the auditorium. It is very well done and explains the history of the Corn Palace. The admission is free and is accessible to the handicapped. Well worth the... More

I have been going to South Dakota for over 5 years. We always stop at SD attractions along I-90 as we make our way west. From my first trip, I thought the corn palace sounded amazing. Being from Wisconsin, I'm used to farming and I was so freaking pumped to finally get to the corn palace just last week. To... More

What's not to like about a free attraction so beautifully decorated? This majestic building is so much more than corn. It is a multi-use building that the community uses for trade shows, stage shows, and even basketball is played here. Admission is free, the bathrooms are located right as you enter the doors to your left and to your right.... More

We stopped here while traveling across South Dakota. It was good for a break from traveling. I was disappointed that there wasn't more to see inside. The murals are lovely, but high on the walls. Historical displays in the hall. There is a very nice gymnasium in this building.

If you're looking for a tourist destination, this is not even worth a stop. It's an arena with posters of the history. It does have some cool corn art on the outside, but that's about it. There's a nice gift shop across the street but the rest of the shops are junk. The website makes it look cool and interesting... More

Everyone's opinion differs, and out of the 4 of us travelling together, two were underwhelmed with this attraction while the other two thought it was awesome. It is definitely worth the stop while you are in Mitchell. They were working on it while we were there. The history is very interesting and covered well with photos and information lining the...
