We were told on our tour of Homestake mine that we should stop by the opera house. What a great idea! We met Sarah, who is the coordinator for the opera house and restoration manager. The opera house had burned and she was working with the board of directors to restore it. What has been done so far, is just... More

This opera house was so special before it burned. It was sad to see it go but, the restoration of the building is wonderful. Like stepping back in time! Wish i could have seen a play!

We enjoyed Mother's Day with our mother taking her back in time for this Lawrence Welk parody. They did a wonderful job! I was in awe of this beautiful building. Although the theater still needs renovations, the sound was wonderful and the feeling of living history was exciting. The lobby has been beautifully restored!

Great tour of a well constructed opera house. If you appreciate good architecture and engineering, this is a must see. The acoustics are just about the best there is available. They are doing a great job of restoration after a fire while bringing the building up to code. Bad part is there is no sign that tours are by reservations... More

What a hidden gem! We have had the privilege of not only touring this amazing historic structure, but performing on the stage! The history of the Homestake Opera House is a wonderful story. Don't miss out on touring the building-the underground pool is crazy cool, and the staff clearly love their jobs. The Opera House works hard to bring in... More

What a great venue - history and an awesome performance venue. the renovations are ongoing and see the old and the new is very interesting. A fire in the 1980s damaged this old building but recent renovations are bringing it back to life as a major venue in downtown Lead. Visit when you have a chance!

Thanks so much for making the time to stop in and see, hear and be touched by this story. An Interpretive Center is being built in the former library space, so be sure to come back and see the story come to life in this space! More

15+- years ago the Opera House sustained significant fire damage. Although the restoration has along ways towards completion, the work completed and/or in progress is well worth the time of the traveler to visit history. Photos, paintings and other exhibits are available to view. Check on opera house entertainment schedule prior to arrival. Very good local talent.
