Easy day trip from Sioux Falls. We enjoyed walking on the bridge over the 18-foot-wide gorge that Jesse James coaxed his horse to jump over in 1876. There is short trail w markers noting points of interest (copy a map to your phone or read...More

This park is very small. Trail map is terrible. We went in Sept. acorns everywhere, making the trails and walking in the rock very dangerous. If you have any limitations do not walk here.

This is a really cool attraction that is on privately-owned land. It is free! (There is a freewill donation box if you are so inclined.) In the small cabin, you can get a map with a nice little history write-up, which I recommend getting before...More

This is a spot made famous by Jesse James. Information on his story is listed at the trail head. It is a short walk around the area, so it really is a quick stop. There are some covered picnic tables in the area, so we...More

This was a perfect quick stop for a mini history lesson. We explored for a few and then went to Palisades. There is a tiny cabin to grab a map and souvenirs, but that's about it! Did Jessie James jump over?? Hmmmm

Very cool history and the short hikes around the gulch are beautiful. I highly recommend you go beyond the bridge. Also, be sure to check out the falls and, again, go beyond the bridge for better views! The older gentleman in the souvenir shop was...More

We stopped at Devil's Gulch to see more of the mystery of Jesse James. Jesse jumped the gulch to get away from a posse chasing him from Northfield MN. There are some trails to hike. The area around the park is beautiful. Maybe a nice...More

Short hike. Not easy for small kids or people who cannot hike very rocky terrain. Trails are not marked at all. We did not get the trail map but highly recommend getting it before you go.
