The photographer was excellent. We had so much fun getting to know him and working with him on our photo shoot.

We did our shoot last Saturday and were so impressed! The place has many, many props, outfits, and photo settings. Our camera man was very professional and handled our dog well, who came out amazing in the photo and was looking the same way as us!

Convinced my wife to do this finally! She had a great time dressing the part and we both liked the photos very much. Photographer was very professional and fun.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon. no appt. It was not overly crowded with customers but busy enough. They told us that we might wait 20 minutes for an available photographer and we could use that time to choose the scene and clothes. Fair enough and we did just that. My criticism was simply that it felt disorganized. Most of the staff we encountered seemed like seasonal (?) employees and frankly, weren't great communicators. The place is very chaotic with props everywhere and people looking around... it wasn't clear on where we should go and when. There were many people guiding us - but all wearing regular clothes so hard to tell who worked there and what they did. The ladies that helped with costumes didn't seem very happy and certainly weren't contributing to any positive experience for us. No smiling... no upbeat small talk or commentary. They took only a handful of photos which I get b/c it would take too long to pick one out if they took many! But - the photos were just ok. The costumes were certainly well used and putting a hat on that 100s of people have tried on... well, you've got to just go with it - even when looking at the very yellowed interior (gross). The person who took the photo might have been very experienced and well-trained but we couldn't tell the difference between what she did and what my 14 yo with a good camera and lighting would have done. There was no nuanced suggestions on posing, etc. (maybe we were just naturals!? ha!! ) My 14 yo daughter was in heaven - she has always wanted to do this - and I wished that the adults had enjoyed it more so she could have the optimum memory- but I am afraid she sensed our irritation and the experience probably didn't live up to her expectations. At the end, all of our photos were shown on a large TV screen about 3 feet above our heads. I asked her to put the large shot on the large TV screen that was right in front of my face - at eye level. She said she couldn't. ?? I didn't like that - it was hard to evaluate the photos when I was standing a few feet away and it was above my head. Doing this in Deadwood feels pretty appropriate so it is kind of a bummer that the experience wasn't great.…

Thank you to the staff for an incredible time taking pictures! We had a group of 11 including 5 kids and they were so good to us and fun! Our family had a blast taking these pictures and will have them to remember our 2019 vacation!
