What a wonderful place to stay when you are planning a trip to Deadwood SD. We stayed here for 8 days as our hub for the fantastic motorcycle riding and all the sights SD has to offer. This hotel was located centrally for day trips to all the great sights, such as Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower, The Badlands ect. This hotel... More

Check-in could be better marked as to where to go! We had to search to find it. Checked in and went over to the building that we were staying in and the room keys didn't work - they were coded for the wrong building - frustrating after a long day of driving. Hotel was very clean, and quiet. Housekeeping staff... More

We spent 3 nights at First Gold during Wild Bill Days in June. The staff was accommodating and the room was a good size and had several extras. On Sunday morning the housekeeping staff was, of course, especially busy. I saw our maid in the hall and told her that she didn't have to clean our room (we were staying... More

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Pros: inexpensive, very very clean, casino on site, covered parking garage, friendly staff. Cons: about a 10 minute walk into downtown Deadwood, no balconies off the rooms, our room was directly on the parking garage👎🏼, the buffet is just mediocre--luckily there are great restaurants in town!

The room was very comfortable. The shower is small. Buffet was good for price. I read the other reviews and walking to different buildings was easy in the summer. They also provide a ride back and forth if you don't want to walk in a large golf cart type vehicle. Good value. Not walkable to historic deadwood.

The people at the Hotel were very friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to show us how to get to different places. Our air conditioner wasn't working when we checked in, we called the desk and they sent someone up immeditately. Went to eat when we came back our room was cool and comfortable.

Went to the 2nd annual 3 wheeler Rally. Stayed at First gold Hotel. Special room rates for this event. Met lots of Ppl from all over the Country. This Hotel is across the street from the event central. Trolley's leave ever 1/2 hour to take you downtown. Visit historic sights and shopping galore! Plenty to se and do in Deadwood,... More

A bit hoakey, but a bit of the old west. We had a drink and went into the back area where there was going to be an reenactment of the shooting of Wild Bill Hickock. They actors needed 4 volunteers from the audience and I volunteered to be the barkeep. That was a lot of fun. The place was clean... More

They have three buildings, I believe, that you can stay in. There is a parking structure to get near the building you stay in. We stayed in number three. We were on the fourth floor and had a balcony overlooking the roof across the way. But you could see the city beyond that. Maybe not if you sat down. It... More

The room was clean and comfortable. Being in an "old West town" the layout was not the most convenient - but appropriate. There are three different buildings that are within about 1/4 mile. The main casino and restaurants are in the furthest building from where our room was. The town is built into the hills so they are limited on... More
