We stopped here on our way back from Devils Tower to Rapid City. This monument is well done, kind of like the 4 corners monument, and in a very nice park. We're glad we took the time to check it out.

An unique roadside attraction. The Geographic Center of the Nation. This happened in 1959 when Hawaii and Alaska gained statehood. In addition to the Monument, there is a museum, memorials, and nice well kept grounds to enjoy. In my opinion, it's worth the stop.

We were there on a Sunday. A cold and rainy Sunday. We still walked around the monument though. Spoiler: it's a big compass. I think the plaque out front makes reference to the real location though. Real location is about 20 minutes North off the highway, on a dirt road marked "old us hwy *insert number here*". Take that left... More

This is a nice museum and tourist attraction. The only downside was finding out that the actual center is located about 20 miles NW of here in some farmer's/rancher's field and not really accessible. Other than that, this is worth your while to drive here and see the place.

It is definitely worth taking the detour off of Route 90 to visit this little gem. Of course seeing the center of the country is fun as well as learning how it was calculated and how it has moved over the years, the museum was interesting, the Johnny Spaulding cabin which was built in 1876 by an early pioneer was... Great place to visit. Interesting and well kept up. Is next to the Tri-State Museum and has a walking path nearby.

We finally located it as part of the Tri State Museum. The grounds were very nice. All the state flags were there. Nice place for a pit stop. The museum has a lot of stuff to take a peak at also.

There is a nice little museum for free. A gift store and of coarse the monument. Very well built clean and worth a few pictures. If we had more time would of like to been to the "real" center that is close and they will give you directions. Worth the stop. Fun.

This was a fun little stop on our tour of the Black Hills. The monument is not the "actual" center but it's close. There is a wonderful museum at the monument which highlights much of the area's history. The staff was very helpful and friendly, truly felt as if you are the "Center" of attention.

Be advised the museum is closed Sunday and Monday. That does not stop you from going to the monument behind the building. Always open. Others have detailed the are so I need not repeat.
