- Ed GGreenville, South Carolina16 contributionsAmazing BMW Spartanburg museum and plant tourThe BMW Spartanburg SC plant tour is amazing. It's presented by video which gives a great overview, aerial view of the campus, and in person in the plant especially observing the robotics precision engineering. Well worth planning a few days ahead, and get an inside glimpse in the plant and inside the beautiful museum and auto collection.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 6, 2023
- Linda V5 contributionsFascinating Tour. A must see!We loved the tour. Broke off into 2 groups of 12, each with a guide. Had headphones so could hear her well. Fascinating tour. Had friend with us that we pushed in wheelchair. When you check in, that area is the museum. Got there early enough to walk around the museum and take pictures. Highly recommend this tour.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 9, 2023
- Elaine RStaten Island, New York5 contributionsGreat Tour and Learning Experience of BMW!This was a great tour and you don't have to be into cars to enjoy it! The history of each make and model and the cars themselves were great to see and learn about. I loved it and was never a BMW fan, but this totally changed my opinion! Definitely would buy an X model now... Also, this is a tour you want to bring family and friends back time and time again. Loved it!Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 29, 2023
- sco3030Waxhaw, North Carolina73 contributionsGreat Experience - Highly RecommendGreat tour - just long enough to get a good overview of the facility and all that goes on there. The film was good and the time that we spent in the body shop provided up-close looks at the amazing robotic assembly process. My guide, Tonya, I believe was her name, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. I also enjoyed the museum ahead of the tour. The building alone is worth the trip - amazing! The drive from the entrance to the museum was beautiful. Two deer met me at the entrance and posed for a photo!!! All in all, it was time and money well spent.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 10, 2024
- AbsolutelyDubrovnikSeattle, Washington1,151 contributionsGreat factory tour - recommendedVisited for the BMW factory tour which we reserved weeks before. This was a wonderful tour led by Tonya who was knowledgeable, interesting and able to answer every question. The factory tour focuses on the area where doors, tailgates etc are installed but provides an opportunity to see the paint shop and various other assembly areas and learn about the entire production process and methods such as JIT/JIS ( Just in Time, Just in Sequence) Great tour that we would highly recoVisited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 7, 2024

Our tour guide, Faye, was very knowledgeable, friendly and personable. I highly recommend this tour. You must make reservations in advance and you must wear closed toe shoes.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2024

My wife booked our tour way in advance and still couldn't get the two hour tour in the afternoon. We took the one hour tour in the morning.
You start in the BMW museum where they break you up into smaller groups. You are driven to the assembly plant on a really nice motor coach. At the factory you are given safety glasses and earbuds so you can hear the tour guide while you are on the factory floor.
The tour through the assembly line lasts about an hour with the guide giving you information about each part of the assembly process. It is amazing how organized this plant is.
They make you turn off your phones and no cameras, video or pictures are allowed on the tour, but you are free to take as many as you like in the museum.
If you ever get the chance to take this tour, do it, it is well worth the money. Super educational and will give you a new perspective on how automobiles are made.

The museum is open to anyone and is free of charge and you don’t need reservations, however if you want a factory tour you will need to book in advance and currently is $10. Book early as they fill up fast. The museum itself was very underwhelming and only has a few cars on display. We were not able to do the factory tour as they were full when we arrived.

The BMW factory tour is well worth your time; well organized and paced, the 2 hour interval flys by. Watching the original chassis get welded together, and, over time, seeing a completed SUV get driven off the line is mesmerizing. Tour guides are loaded w info, but, largely, they let the assembly line do the talking. A real treat, and, out of towners will be bedazzled, don’t miss it.

We had a group of 12 from the Foothills newcomers club. With most of the group being new to the area it seemed like a good idea to see the largest facility in SC. It did not disappoint. What a fascinating look at modern production capabilities and to witness how smooth and efficient a factory can run. Our tour guide, Olivia, did a great job of explaining the entire process and keeping us entertained with stories about the employees and company. We all would highly recommend it to anyone.

It was very cool to watch the cars be built. I took a group of 10 teens and they loved getting their pictures taken inside some of the cars in the museum, especially the BMW Roadster. They felt the tour kept their attention the whole hour.

I was very disappointed. I had taken this tour about Ten years ago with a childhood friend from out of town. At that time, the tour lasted well over 1 hour, and ventured deep into the manufacturing plant. We Experienced a very bustling and active place with robotic activity at several locations within the plant and were sad to see it end. This time I brought my special needs son, excited about what he was going to experience. Instead, we hardly entered the building before we turned around and was headed back to the entrance. The one only station we attend attached the doors from back to front with the hood the last to be installed. Unfortunately, this area had no activity. There was no personnel and no robot activity whatsoever. Everything was still and dormant. As our guide apologized for the lack of activity, we were escorted back to the entrance of the plant and shown a movie about the manufacturing we expected to see first hand. The tour lasted less than an hour. Very, very disappointing. As a post note, I am a current and proud owner of 3 BMW's and believe they're the best-manufactured automobile on the planet.

We began our day at the BMW Performance Center by driving several BMW performance cars around different tracks. What a rush! Then off to the two hour plant tour which was absolutely fantastic! Afterwards, we enjoyed relaxing in the Zentrum and seeing BMW history unfold in the beautiful cars on display along with lunch. Some reservations may be required months in advance to see it all.

The one-hour tour gives a good overview of the history of the plant and the manufacturing process. It's not an indepth exploration nor do the tour guides have a lot of knowledge about the details of the manufacturing process, but it's a good use of an hour for any auto enthusiast. The museum is small but has a few important BMW's on display.

The BMW Zentrum Museum and Glimpse Tour was a highlight of our road trip around the south. It is an awe-inspiring facility and we were fortunate to have Hope as our guide. She was well-versed and well-spoken and was readily able to answer our questions. We left the facility feeling totally impressed with the size and scope of the facility. We were also very impressed with the care BMW provides for its workers and their families. We became “true believers” after surviving a terrible accident in our previous X5 and were particularly impressed with the safety features Hope showed us as part of production.

I went here when it was a 2 hour tour and enjoyed it. This time around only 1 hour tour was available due to construction and this tour was dull not worth money. Just walked by one section came back and watched movie. The tour was basically walk and watch movie. Very boring.

Is there a phone number or email that I can contact Zentrum at? I am planning a road trip around this tour specifically. Everyday I check their website for scheduling and the last available date for tours is June 14, 2024. Does the schedule open up after that?
I have hit 0 on the one phone number I have found and left messages for whoever's voicemail it goes to but I have never gotten a reply. We are planning our vacation around this stop. Any information about how to get in touch with them would be great. thank you

zentrum in Greenville sc. opens and closes as different exhibits are shown.
Also during pre production of a new model they stop the factory tour which to me is the highlight.
Call and provide them with your dates and they will tell you what exhibit is open and available tour times.
enjoy the visit is well worth it

My son is doing a high school project on Lean manufacturing and I'm thinking about taking him here - do they talk about Lean / Six Sigma on the tour?
Written May 5, 2016
Call them direct for exact details--it has been several years since my tour--but regardless it is great and informative.
