This is a FREE self guided tour. Lots of information on how the power plant works and it's impact on the environment.

As a realtor in the area, I always get question on the safety of the power plant. After visiting Duke World of Energy, I love the safety measures that are in place. Great education for young to old.

We were very disappointed to drive from Clemson to the World of Energy on to find they are closed for renovations. There was nothing on their voicemail and nothing on their website. Very bummed!

Son is doing a school project on the debate of Nuclear Power and this was a very good source of information for that project. Exhibits were inviting and informative. Good presentation and friendly staff. Also have a very nice butterfly garden on the outside overlook area.

Overall it displays the need for nuclear energy and the safety that ensures the facility remains secure. It is educational for both young ones as well as adults.

It didn't have the wow factor for adults, but I think kids would enjoy it. The displays were interesting, more activity would be better.

We stopped to give our kids a break from riding. We were pleasantly surprised at what a good museum this is. It held our 4 year olds attention and we learned a lot as well. You can really take it at your own pace, so if you have 30 minutes or an hour and a half, you will enjoy it. There is also a lovely butterfly garden and picnic area if you are fortunate to visit on a day without rain.
As a homeschooling mom, I appreciated that they had a free unit study on energy.

A self guided, interesting, informative tour about energy. As you walk through the permanent exhibits, you activate videos and demonstrations that teach about how energy is made, transmitted, used, etc. We’ve done this more than once and learn something each time. The displays entertain the children while educating them. It is all indoors so would be a good activity when the weather is not so comfortable outside.

Is there is a dam visible anywhere around or near the plant?

Yes. Lake Keowee provides cooling water and the Keowee hydroelectric plant is the emergency power source for Oconee Nuclear Station. The hydro station is located on the same site as the nuclear station and the World of Energy looks out toward the earthen dam for Lake Keowee.
