This remains of this church is right off the road so if you want to see an interesting sight, it is easy to get to. Walk around and see the grave sights, too. I love the name of the chapel, too.

After stopping at the wonderful Penn Center, we drove just a short way further down the road to check out the Chapel of Ease. There is something compelling about old ruins that stirs the imagination. I was there on a beautiful day, and it was...More

A fascinating building built in 1740 out of brick and plaster mixed with sea shells -- after a fire in the 19th century, all that remains are the walls. But that is definitely worth a stop.

From 1700's, this is the remains of the chapel and grounds. Made out of some kind of seashell concrete or something. Very cool!

We drove from Penn Center to the (Anglican) Chapel of Ease, a tabby-walled church built in the 1740 for the planters of St. Helena Island. Tabby cement is a North African technique mixing oyster shells, lime and sand. This Chapel of Ease was built by...More

Loved this church. We drove right by it before we saw it. It’s right in the curve of the road and there are several large oak trees around it. There is I also a small cemetery around the church. There are large lights that light...More
