On one of the hottest days of the year, it took 4:45 to play 18 with a tee time before 9 am in July. That’s what happens when you tee off behind four yahoos who can’t even bother to tuck in their shirts and who wait for the green to clear from 280 when they can’t hit it 180. The heat index was 109 so you’d think they’d be eager to finish more quickly.

As for the conditions, they were average at best. They soak the hell out of the fairways taking away any roll and taking bump and run out of the picture. Greens were resort slow and firm. Tees and fairways were not mowed. The bridge on the par 3 6th hole had planks missing which is a major safety hazard. The course tries to pass itself off as classic Lowcountry but is really a cheap imitation. Kiawah Island it is not. Sadly MB golf has become all about cost cutting. No quality anymore.

Wind was blowing all day but a great course to play if you haven't played here. Would recommend you make this a course you play if you are in the area. Will play here on our next visit. Great lunch at the clubhouse. Friendly staff.

Excellent course, with an interesting design. Lots of water all around and often comes into play. Various tee boxes make it accessible for all handicaps. Beverage cart available, along with driving range and practice area.

Really enjoyed this course. Good greens, not too fast. Pace of play was good. Not a hit and Hope course. You need some strategy. Well placed trees in the fairways make you place your drives. The trees with Spanish moss are spectacular.

We are Prime Time members. Played first nine fine this morning, no problems. Made the turn and six other groups double-booked in line for their first nine. After 40 minute wait to tee off, it never got better. Two and three groups at each tee, waiting. No ranger to move anything. They simply are over-booking tee times. We won't be back.

Bright moment of the day: While waiting at the turn -- in a long line -- one guy lost it and started backing his cart forward and backward, trying to turn around and leave the course, banging into other carts, while yelling about the over crowding. It reminded everyone of the TV commercial where the guy rolls up and starts hitting carts. This guy's group quit before starting its second nine. Wish we had quit then ... instead of suffering through seven looooooong holes. We won't be back.

The layout was nice, but the tees were poor, the fairways were wet and the greens were decent. It is a good layout, but has been overseeded and watered. We played as a group of 12 yet they closed the bar before we finished.

We were able to get a 1:10 tee time at a reasonable rate on a Friday afternoon. However, when we arrived at the course there was a crowd of golfers waiting to get a cart. Surprisingly, we were only 10 minutes late teeing off, but it took us 2 1/2 hours to play the first nine. The back nine was even slower. At one point there were 5 groups on a par 5 hole. After three holes played, the sun was going down so we headed back to the club house with six holes left unplayed. When we passed four of those holes we found that the last two holes heading in to the club house were completely empty. Clearly, there was a need for a ranger to keep the players moving, but no one from the staff seemed to care. As a result, we payed a significant fee to play fewer than the 18 holes we bargained for, which left a bad taste. I would never play this course again, even though it was in good shape. It desperately needs better management.

I first played this course in the fall of 2015. We loved the course and really enjoyed the variety of holes and the scenery. Last week I took a group there and was so disappointed. The greens were rock hard. On top of that pins were placed on edges on just about every hole and four or five were in impossible places to put too. One hole we had putts roll back to our feet two or three times. We finally picked up and moved on. I like courses with some bite because I play to a 4.7 handicap. But this was ridiculous. The one highlight was one of our group had his first hole in one on the fourth hole. Really not sure if I will go back.

I recommend Pawley's Plantation Golf Course for avid golfers! The course is challenging and a bit different than others around. And if you are lucky, you may see the three-legged alligator!

The course is wide and beautifull. There are plenty of gators around as well as other wildlife. Also your short game is very impotant here as the greens are very fast, make a mistake and you will pay. Overall it was a 8 or 9 on a good fun golf course. Would not call it really hard if your irons and putter is working well for you.
