Darn, base closed to visitors
Apr 2021
We checked on the USMC website to plan our visit. It wasn't posted that the base is closed to visitors, or that a request for visitor's pass requires 72 hours to process. The Marine on duty at the gate was polite, friendly, understood our disappointment, and apologized for our inconvenience.

Frustrating
Apr 2021
This museum is on the Parris Island Marine Training Base and not open to civilians. We went, but were turned away at the gate.

disappointment
Mar 2021
we looked up everything and had our vacation all planned out. We stayed in Beaufort . But the day we planned on going to Parris Island to visit these attractions, we could not get on. It was closed to all visitors due to COVID. Nothing in any of our searches said that. It was very disappointing and a day wasted. We were so much looking forward to visiting the ruins here and also the museum

Graduation day
Jan 2020 • Couples
The museum was a nice ending to an amazing day. First attended the Marine graduation. Then visited this museum. Enjoyed all the exhibits of Marine uniforms and battles through the decades. The short movie was worth watching. Nice gift shop, too. Proud to be an American.

Great Experience
Dec 2019
We were about to visit with a relative who did his basic training at Parris Island so the timing of our visit was perfect. While he didn't remember walking "through the doors", our conversation about marine history was certainly enhanced by our visit to the museum. It may seem small but we were immersed for several hours -don't miss the video!

A must see
Jan 2019
Having begun my Marine Corps career at Parris Island many years ago, I really enjoyed reviewing all of the memorabilia and historical information found in the museum. I could have spent several hours in there.

Great coverage of the development ot the Parris Island Marine Corps base. Awesome display from the perspective of the new recruits welcome and training. Great exhibits pertaining to the Marine Corps numerous contributions during wars, military interventions, and operations. Wonderful weaving of the early history of the area with the military history in the Beaufort County area.

So glad we visited
Sep 2019 • Couples
My husband trained here after enlisting in the Marine Corps at the age of 18. At age 55, he finally ventured back to where his 20 yr military career began. So glad we visited!
The history of the Marine Corps, as well as its role in conflicts dating back to the civil war, complete with displays showing uniforms and weaponry, are on display. I enjoyed the area of the museum that shows the training and experiences that enlisted soldiers go through during their basic training. There was a class graduating on Friday of the week we visited and I noticed family members taking in all of the information in this area. Such a well organized and informative collection. Definitely worth the trip!

Museum at Parris Island

If you like history this is a nice place to spend some time. It has exhibits about the activities on the island in addition to the Marine Corp. That being said the base is extremely nice. The streets and building names relate to the many missions of the Marine Corps since its inception.
