Yes please in Charleston Or the greater Charleston area to walk your dog let him runoff leash if they’re able to without acting crazy.Nice breeze from the river! Boardwalks along & over the marsh, #2 piers, cool playground lots of coveted picnic space & bench swings for couples. And THE VIEWS
This is me and my dog Lucy’s favorite place. I can wear her out Fast. She likes it when it rains and the grass is soggy & slops it up! Even better... this place is never that crowded & People walk the outside perimeter, fish on piers AND I hardly see anybody with dogs out here. There must be about a 200 X 50 yards of freshly cut grass in the middle That the dog can run crazy and he can play ball and throw frisbee, etc. I like to go around 4:20.
Love going to the beaches but this place has a lot of perks. No sand, lots of spacious, green grass, views & breeze. It’s a killer place And surprise not a lot of people out there when I go. Check out all the LOCAL shops, cafés, bars, breweries. GOOD PEEPS😀

Love stopping by and enjoying a stroll along the riverfronts of some of the iconic cities of the USA. Charleston is very historical and deserves to be on your wish list when traveling in the south !!

The memorial is a tribute planned by military veterans & the City of North Charleston to all the men & women the United States & civilian who labored at the naval base for 95 years.
An open pavilion has a vertical curved wall with multiple panels about the history from its creation in 1901 to the base's 1996 closing. There are five lighted flag poles that feature flags of the Unites States, South Carolina, U.S. Navy, North Charleston & the U.S. Marine Corps.
On the southern end is a curved open memorial made of photographs -one large photo with several smaller photos that combine for the larger's time period. From the left are 1901-1914 Before WW 1, 1914-1918 WW 1, 1918-1939 Between The Wars, 1939-1945 WW 11, & 1945-1974 The Cold War. Just a short walk are three metal model ships- The Destroyer-Gray Hounds Of The Fleet, The Landing Craft-The Gator Navy and The 41 For Freedom-Navy's Nuclear Submarines.
Two statues homer the navy. The 'Homecoming-the Father, Mother & son, in a tight family embrace and the Lone Sailor- waiting to be shipped put.
A water fountain with six steams of water shooting upward for children to play under or run through. . I watched young lad -5-6-run back & forth in the rain while his mother looked on smiling.
The memorial is located next to the River Front Park. Parking is about 200 yards away. . The Charleston River faces the memorial. A walkway of cement or sand/gravel goes from the southern end to the north. If wet take the cement path. The memorial should take 30 minutes at most. I was rained out twice for a total time of about one hour. This time included photographing all the memorial. Not far from the curved wall are restrooms.
I was not disappointed , however photos one web site gave the impression of being longer in length & more naval items to view. I visit is still highly recommended, only on a dry day.I think any military veteran of any U.S. branch would enjoy a visit, no matter the memorial's size. I was the only visitor each time.

This is a former Navy base with some interesting information on plaques and a war memorial. Unfortunately, most of the boardwalk is closed for repairs, so you can't get as much of the nice water views as you would expect.

We weren't able to walk very far the day that we went because of repairs on the boardwalk and other areas of the park. It's a former navy base, so there were statues and a memorial wall. There were some nice views of the Cooper River.

Riverfront Park is a contrast to Waterfront Park. Riverfront is isolated from major roads but has substantial free parking and extensive grounds. This is part of former navy base. It has some exhibits including statues of sailors, three different ships with history to the base and a history of the base. We visited after dark but it was well lit and families were enjoying the grounds. Saw a fox in the parking lot.Great views of the bridge and river. Does not have a pineapple fountain but has a fountain. Another way to escape the crowd and enjoy a simple, free pleasure.

A walk will be through the trees, by picnic tables & benches with occasional works of art. Overall I could have bypassed a visit, as I was more interested in the Greater Charleston Naval Memorial. The park just wasn't my cup of tea.The park would be an excellent place for walking the dog-saw three couples walking their dog, was a Sunday afternoon-or a possibly a jog. There is a dock for fishing, grills for a picnic, a fountain for kids run back & forth under to cool off. Also a restroom just a short walk from the fountain.
I still recommend a visit. Parking is probably 100 yards away.

This is a very relaxing area in North Charleston. It sits on the Cooper River which one can see plenty of ships going past. There are paths that allows access to walk from one end of the park to the other. In one end of the park you can see statues and read some history of North Charleston. On the other end is an inlet which the water flows through the creek.
Chair swings are near the back end where someone can sit and relax, while looking at the water. A big field sits in middle which people play with dogs, frisbee, football, picnic, etc. There are fishing docks where people can fish or crab. The fishing is usually great.
A dog park is located in the back of the park near a playground for kids. Also, there is a covered area with picnic tables and a grill. People usually bring portable grills to cook and have a bbq. There is a bathroom here along with a water fountain.
Lastly, there are sprinklers that spray from the ground that allows kids and adults to wet. Lost of kids wear bathing suits and enjoy the water while their parents watch from the benches. Sitting next to the sprinklers is an old military house that can be rented for different events, such as weddings. It gets booked up quickly so book in advance.

Can I park an RV at the park?

I agree with the above. I saw no restrictions on signs but would certainly look for them. Plenty of open space, easy in and out when I was there.
Can you ride bikes and skateboards there??

I would think yes. I did see people eating lunch there. Looked like they were breaking from work.

Is parking right at the park, or will there be a walk?

There is free parking at the park in a lot.
I would like to have a small family cookout near the park area where the tables are located is there a charge or fee?

I don’t think there is a fee. I didn’t see anyplace that was even open. However, the day we were there people were setting up for an event. We were restricted to staying in a smaller area, so we didn’t see the whole park. Also, where we were, there were picnic tables, but we did not see any grills.
Enjoy your time there. It is beautiful.

Does a 5 year old need a ticket to attend or can they enter with an adult? Thanks!

When there are no special events, the park is free to everyone. If there is an event, it would be up that particular event guidelines. The park has been closed to the public for paid events lately and regulars have not been able to walk through the entire park so call city hall in North Charleston to get current information before going. We like to walk our dog there but have not been allowed while there set up and tear down everything. We have not seen the schedule of closures posted anywhere so we have been disappointed and frustrated due to the restrictions ourselves.
