This is the location of an active model railroaders club and is open to the public several days each week and for special events. The layouts are for HO, N scale and O scale. The layouts are extensive and the club members are always busy assembling different trains and working on the layouts. The atmosphere is friendly and the members like to share information about their trains with visitors.

Our daughter and son plus their families visited Grand Strand Model Railroad Club in North Mrytle Beach SC. There were several other families there and everyone was observing the Covid requirements. Mask were and distancing was observed. The club had shut down the narrow isles, yet all were very helpful in making sure the younger visiters were able to see all of the neet things about ht elayout. There were several new additions to the n scale layout that took a while to see all of it. A GREAT TIME was had by all. No cost..

Incredible, huge and detailed model railroad layouts, this is the official HQ for the local model railroading club. It is located in the Myrtle Beach Mall on the end by the Bass Pro Shop..
Check hours for operation; when they are open, it is completely free and open to the public, and there are usually several of the club members running trains and would be happy to answer any question. They have a huge old Lionel layout, a massive and complex HO system, as well as a large N scale system. You can easily spend an hour or more watching the trains.
Lots here fore kids, and a perfect place to go when it's too hot outside.

Located in the Myrtle Beach Mall in north myrtle beach, near Bass pro shop. The club members have done a great job building and running several model railway layouts. Obviously they have put much time and money into the layouts.
Check for open times to be sure it will be open when you go.
No fee but donations welcome. Well worth a contribution.

A warm welcome awaits you from a group of talented and knowledgeable guys, the layouts themselves are well detailed and and operate flawlessly. well worth a visit either to keep junior quiet for a minute or to enthuse him to build his own. even old hands can exchange idea's and go away with a few new ones.
If you are in Myrtle pay them a visit.

My four year old grandson was completely mesmerized, and didn't say a word for an hour and a half. So many guages from N to O.

We visit Myrtle Beach several times a year and always make it a point to stop here. It's great for both older adults and kids. One large platform has buttons for kids to push to activate whistles, train cars, and platform accessories. The staff/volunteers are very friendly and eager to talk about their platforms and trains. We take our five year old, and although he's seen it numerous times, we always stay for at least 20 minutes. It's a small space, and they've packed as many platforms in as possible, so if there are a lot of visitors there it can get a little cramped. However, it's free (donations accepted/encouraged) and worth it to stop by!

Grand Strand Model Railroaders
When you think of Myrtle Beach SC lots of pleasant images come to mind……the Grand Strand, surf, excellent golf courses and fine restaurants prime among them. But tucked away in former retail space in the Myrtle Beach Mall (close by the Bass Pro Shop) is a delightful experience for kids of all ages. And - admission is free! The Grand Strand Model Railroader club room contains several different scales of operating model trains. There are specific areas that allow visitors to actually operate the rolling stock. The detail of the construction of the operating environments is outstanding and varied. There is a built to scale bridge that is about 14 feet long constructed of individual pieces of poplar and balsa woods. Amazing!
For me, the time there was really a trip back to my pre-teen years which brought forth many great memories of time spent with my dad and “my” train set which took up around half of the basement in our home. A wonderful experience by any measure!

How long did it take for them to make this?
Written July 1, 2019
Hundreds of hours over many many months. Look underneath and see the wiring and you will be amazed.
