We had a great time . Not everyone was there at 7 so the bus driver calls everyone that didn't show up. Some of us parked on the wrong side of Dillards but either figured it out or when the driver called got connected. As soon as we got to Charleston the Carriage Tour was there to take us on a great narrated tour . We then had time to shop in the City Market . Off to lunch for another narrated boat trip and a great boxed lunch by Ted's Butcherblock. There was no wasted time. We would have enjoyed a little more time at Boone Hall Plantation . Our driver Henry was very professional .

This is a great trip. The bus ride was relaxing and our driver, Henry, was terrific. I would have to say the best part was the Carriage ride. The tour guide was so informative about every aspect of Charleston. And Carlos the horse, was fantastic.
It is true, it would have been better to have more time at the market and to wander around on our own.
The boat cruise was nice but the captain repeated everything we had just heard from the Carriage guide, so it was repetitive. The box lunch was delicious.
The Boone plantation was nice..but you only get to see the first floor of the house as it is privately owned. Front hall, library, dining room, and enclosed porch. The tram ride(pulled by tractor) around the grounds was informative.
All in all, it was a great day, a little bit of everything.
I would highly recommend this trip.

My husband, 18 year old daughter and I took a day out of our vacation to do a day trip to Charleston. It takes about 2 hours each way and traffic is pretty congested along 17. The trip home was longer than the trip to. The trip itself was really good. I'll start at the beginning. Make sure you get there 15-20 minutes early. They meet at Broadway at the Beach. Our driver called us at 6:50am asking if we were still coming. We were 5 minutes away and the last people to board. They were waiting on us and departure time was 7:00am. It was a pleasant ride there, very quiet bus with a short Charleston video about 45 minutes from arrival. Our horse and buggy was waiting for us and we quickly got started with a street tour of homes and places of interest. Our guide was really good. He dropped us off at City Market and we had around an hour to shop. We met the charter bus back at our drop off location and he took us to our harbor tour. We had our lunch waiting and were able to eat downstairs in the air conditioning and still have great views. The lunch was good-sandwich, fruit, drink but the sourdough bread was very tough to chew. The narration again, was very good. After that leg of the tour, we got back on the bus to the short drive to Boone Hall Plantation. We saw three rooms of the house, took a ride around the plantation, and had time to quickly run in one of the nine slave cabins. We really needed another half hour to 45 minutes to see everything. The Avenue of the Oaks is absolutely breathtaking. When they made our way back to Charleston.

I have been to Charleston over 10 times but decided to take this tour with friends to avoid the long drive and parking issues. I thought the tour was well planned and covered a variety of sights that made the trip very interesting. The lunch and harbor tour provided a nice break from the hot and humid day. I personally thought the highlight of the tour was the carriage ride and the tour guide Monica was OUTSTANDING. The only negative thing about the tour was the return ride from Boone Plantation. We waited an extra 35 minutes because the driver didn't correctly count the passengers. We waited for 5 missing passengers that were not missing. I realize that the bus driver is not a tour guide but he should be able to count heads. Other than this little miscue the trip was outstanding and I highly recommend it.

It was nice not to have to drive to Charleston and back and not to worry about parking. However, the carriage people were late, we didn't get to see some of the most historical (or prettiest) areas of the city, and our shopping time was drastically cut short because of the lateness in picking us up and dropping us off at the market. The boat tour and the plantation tour were nice, but we were disappointed that there were only a handful of rooms we were allowed to see.

Couldn't believe how pleased we were with this trip! Although we booked our vacation in Myrtle Beach, we really thought long and hard about Charleston, with many of our friends telling us how great it was. So when we saw a Day Trip, WITH a carriage tour, WITH a Harbor Tour, and WITH a Plantation tour, we thought, "Holy Cow, that must be expensive!" Turns out, it was probably less expensive than if we did it ourselves, AND we got expert guides along the way! Because while the bus driver was okay, the guys on the Carriage Tour were EXCELLENT and the Harbor Tour Captain was informative and Hilarious. The Plantation guys were very good as well, and the Gullah woman gave a wonderful presentation. So if you wanted to get a really decent taste of Charleston in one day, I couldn't imagine a better tour. BTW, we were on the same tour with Yankee Pop.

We loved the Trip from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. The only thing I wish is that I would have had more time at the Boone Plantation. I could not get everything done there and that was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Maybe come back a little later in the day would enable the travelers to have more time there. I also enjoyed the carriage ride. I would like that to be a little longer too, but I realize it can't all be extended. It was well worth the money.

Charleston Adventure Tour was disappointing first of all we are not from Myrtle Beach and before making our reservation to be on a bus at 630 am we wanted to see how much time it would take to get to the place to catch it. I looked everywhere on the website that have questions and answers for everything else except where exactly to meet the bus we knew it was in Barefoot Landing if you've ever been here, you know this place is HUGE. Since it says they do this tour every Tuesday and Thursday someone must know about it, we stopped by the information center they had no idea they sent us to the bigger information center and finally we found a security guard that thought it was in front of Hard Rock Cafe. We left that night unsure and when I ordered the tickets it, then gave us the spot which is indeed in front of  HRC how ever for people like us who like to plan ahead it should be listed on the information somewhere. We got to the bus at 645 am and it was already full they make the bus sound like a luxury liner, but it's a little bigger than a school bus with a bathroom. When asked if the tour was handicapped friendly we were told if you can do some walking you will be fine when we got to Charleston we were told by the bus driver, he would pick us up exactly where he dropped us off at well the horse tour dropped us off across town so we had to walk all the way back in 95°  weather and everything looked the same and there were busses that looked just like ours all over the place because none of them are marked they are all plain white busses and we had to be back by 11 or we would get left. We finally found our way jumped on the bus up the road to the boat tour which was extremely packed we were handed a box as soon as we boarded and told to get in line for a drink. When we finally found somewhere to squeeze in so we could eat opened the box to a hard, soggy bun with meat on it a cookie and fruit some lunch. The sandwich was uneatable so I had a cookie and gave the fruit to my dad. We rode around and the captain pointed out some stuff there was no shade it was hot and nothing special. Then we jumped back on the bus to get to the Plantation got there and we did the walking tour (incase you didn't pick up on this there is quite a bit of walking which for my father who has knee problems was a big issue) thank god they had a general store here where I got a decent sandwich I was starving by this time. We also got a trolley ride around the property which was nice then back on the bus to come home. By the end of this whirlwind day everyone was exhausted. There is a lot of walking so if you have any issues that make it difficult skip this tour. It was $218 for 2 people we left Myrtle Beach at 7am and were back by 6pm they do not leave you any time for shopping or anything extra wear walking shoes and cool clothing and bring your own water! I wouldn't do this tour again.

Driver was excellent but not familiar with route as regular driver was ill. Rainy day but at each location exiting bus weather was fine. Harbor tour excellent. Carriage ride did not know until end that you had to walk almost 3 blocks to bus! did not have time for market place. Rushed a lot and at plantation was rushed. Was supposed to be an average 10 hour plus day and ours was about 8 and a half. Very disappointed after looking forward to it for months. Company not respond very well to my concerns.
Basically said tour Charleston on your own!

Thank you for taking our Charleston Adventures Trip from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. We appreciate your feedback. I would just like to address some of your comments. The bus company that is used for this trip is called Sunway Charters and there are multiple drivers that operate this trip. They are very familiar with the tour and route. The carriage company is also very familiar with where the bus is parked as that is where they pick guests up. They offer a complimentary pick up right as we drop off on Concord Street, then take guests on a carriage tour and drop off a few blocks away at their Big Red Barn. This is done so that guests are closer to the market and have time to browse as they head back to the bus. If they dropped you off at the same pick up point, you would then have to walk double to browse the market and time would be even more limited for shopping. The then drops right off at the Maritime Center for the harbor tour with boxed lunch, and picks you right back up at the same location after the tour 90 minutes later. Then, we head out to Boone Hall at 1 and get there around 1:30. The only guided tour at Boone Hall is the house tour. The rest of the plantation is great interactive exhibits and self guided grounds and gardens tours. Guests can explore on their own as not everyone has the same interests. We then leave Boone Hall at 3:30-3:45 so that we can get back to Myrtle Beach between 5:30 and 6pm. This tour begins at 7am and ends around 5:30. We do not feel it could or should be extended as it is already a very fun but long day for guests and folks want to get back in time for dinner or other activities. We did not encourage you to come to Charleston on your own, but rather said that Charleston Adventures is intended to be a taste of Charleston so that you can learn and determine what you might like to explore on your own when you return. In other words, we do not have unlimited time at each activity. We're sorry you felt rushed, but we have been running this trip for over 10 years and this time line is the best to maximize your time in Charleston.
