We decided to have dinner after a round of golf with our wives. Old southern style interior with a great bar area and multiple dancing/dinning areas that can handle a large number of guests made just walking around a historical experience. The service was exceptional and the food was great. Call ahead and see if they are having specials. They seem to have them 1-2 times per week. We all had the stuffed flounder special. A cup of soup, a fresh cold salad, the main meal and a chef's choice desert for a reasonable price made this a fine dining experience for a reasonable price. Call ahead for reservations and just enjoy the food and experience.

Played Oct 2021 and staff was friendly and course in great shape. New greens were painfully slow! Bunker upgrade was very nice. Would play again with hopes as the greens mature they’ll cut shorter so those have more speed.

The Grandaddy of Myrtle Beach didn't disappoint. Greens were in fabulous shape as were the fairways. As I believe this is the oldest course in Myrtle, it had fabulous elevation changes, long holes and challenging doglegs, everything I want in a course.
Restaurant (19th hole) was very good. The staff were all outstanding and made sure we had a great time. We will always play this course when we're in town, and since its one of the Founders Collection, you can always get a good rate.

Great food!!! Turkey, pork loin, dressing, mashed potatoes, salads, green beans, corn and crab soup, rolls, gravy, cranberry sauce, pecan pie, and carrot cake... all foods were delicious. Service was excellent with reservations... no dishes to wash after such a festive meal!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

2nd time we played Pine Lakes, in the passed 2 years, but I didn't make the tee times this year. I would say the course would rate a "C" overall. The green would be " B+". The fairways a " C+". The roughs if you could find grass, "D". Mostly dirt. The outside staff was helpful and friendly. They need 2 cart girls when they are busy. We saw her on number 3, and then didn't see her until 17, and need a effective ranger. I thought that $8 for a dye turkey sandwich was alittle high, and when I said, " Only $8 dollars", she said "I could always go to McDonald's". When I went into the Pro Shop, I felt they were ripping everyone off. Pro Vs were $16 dollars more then any other Pro Shop. I don't mind paying more, but not when people have an attitude with paying guest.

Played today and it was OK. Was more expensive than other courses we played in the area and really not that much better.
When you pull in there are no signs for the bag drop. You need to drive to the right of the club house to find it. We ended up carrying out bags.
There is no driving range. Only a practice putting green.
Play was very slow. Would have been nice to have a ranger out to keep things going. The person we got paired with quit at 16 because he could not take it. To be fair slow play can happen at any course but there is an expectation that it will be managed.
Guys at the cart return were busy talking so we took our bags off and headed out. Think they expected us to wait for them to come over to wipe out clubs down - not sure.
Bar looked nice but we did not have time to try it due to the extended play time.
The pro shop guys were really helpful.

So give it a try at least once to check out the course.

Thought about this before writing and after reading the majority of poor reviews I had to give my input. None of the poor reviews really had a complaint about the course, but how they were treated. You can add my veteran group to the list. Had golfed here during the hay day of Myrtle beach with kilts and chowder. It was one of our favorites.
Fast forward
Actually liked the course lay out and it was in very nice shape even though it was wet.
Which brings us to our problem... We mistakenly drove to close to the roped off area on a hole that was cart path only... There is no cart path mind you. Just very poor instruction given by the Starter and VERY bad set-up of roped off area. We did not intentionally do this yet, The Starter came shooting out to us in a demeaning manner and began to Chastise us about CART PATH ONLY! CART PATH ONLY! JUST LIKE i INSTRUCTED YOU... Really rude. Do we really need this when on vacation? Pine Lake, you do know that you offer nothing special that the other courses would offer as well? This is the impression you want to give your paying guests??? Now I see why Kings North gets all the business. like all the other "below average" reviews written here, I will advise my groups, and all golfers back home to avoid this place! Sad really.

I’m writing to let you know how our day of golfing went today on your course. We were teamed up with a very nice young man from New Jersey. The course was a bit rough off the fairways and greens (understandable for the time of the year) but well-marked and we appreciated the handy GPS devices in the carts. The gal on the food cart was adorable – which our younger partners especially appreciated. What we did not appreciate however, was the attitude of the ‘golf marshall’ when he came to tell us that we were holding up the entire course because we were playing too slowly. We were unaware that we were holding up anyone, and he did not approach us with an attitude of even basic civility. He was brusque to the point of rudeness. We were told that if we didn’t get things moving then we would have to skip a hole. There was no “I’m sorry folks, but …”, it was ‘get it moving or else’. I’m not a great golfer anyway, but his attitude made me angry and threw off my game for the rest of the day. I think we were on hole #11 when he chewed us out. He was a jerk – unnecessarily rude. I skipped teeing off on the next hole and didn’t bother to hit out when I landed in a sand trap in the next hole. What made it worse is that by speeding up as much as we did, we got held up by the group in front of us! If we had skipped a hole we would have been breathing down the collective necks of the next group for several holes. What's more, when we were admonished while on the green, there were no players on the tee or fairway of the hole we were playing.
Just so you know, we won’t be golfing at your club again. Our young companion told me I shouldn’t take that attitude just because one guy was unkind. True. But Myrtle Beach has so many courses to offer why would I chance it when others have offered exceptional customer service while taking our money? Oh, and when we were slow on World Tour the gentleman just said “it’s ok to let the group behind you play through”. No gestapo tactics needed. Just a little southern charm and everyone was happy.

Played 18 holes during a January vacation an had a great time. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Golf course was in fantastic shape for the time of year. Pretty wide open but a nice challenge for all skill levels. Be aware the greens are a slower but I was told this is due to the type of grass used and the optimal length it needs to be kept, but it just required an adjustment, nothing to major. GPS in golf carts was fantastic. The rate seemed pretty high for the season ($70) but if you buy the Myrtle Beach golf passport it is significantly cheaper ($30 range I was told). Will definitely come here again when we come back.

It’s called the Granddaddy and designed back in the 1920's by the first President of the PGA. The front nine was re-designed, but the back 9 is the original design. Club House is interesting and rumored to be the birthplace of Sports Illustrated.
Excellent staff and the course is kept in good condition. Only drawback is no range to warm up on.
