About
If you only see one show... this is the one! "Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach" according to CNBC! The Carolina Opry has won every major South Carolina tourism award including Most Outstanding Attraction and the prestigious Governor's Cup. And it's the only show that has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, TNN, and USA Today, which called it "A Big Hit". The New York Post called it "A Hot Ticket".Entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore launched The Carolina Opry on South Carolina's Grand Strand in 1986. His live music variety show features a cast of 36 of the nation's top singers, dancers, comedians and musicians in its own 2200-seat show palace with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and three giant video screens. The show, which is continually updated with new music and comedy, is two hours of high energy entertainment that blends humor and dancing with everything from rock 'n roll, Broadway and country to classic hits, pop melodies and gospel.Young and old are counted among its fans who are sure to include a performance in their visit to Myrtle Beach. In November and December the theater is transformed into a winter wonderland where the magic of the season comes alive in The Carolina Opry Christmas Special a wonderfully dazzling, jolly and sentimental musical celebration of America's best-loved holiday..

We winter in Myrtle Beach and the first thing we due when we get here is buy tickets for the TCO! This year we saw the Christmas show and Time Warp. In 20 years, we have NEVER been disappointed with the shows. The talent is simply amazing. Many of the performers sing and play several different instruments. This is a high energy show requiring the performers, especially the dancer, to be in top physical condition. The performers are so engaging, we come away feeling like family. Looking forward to another 20 years of unparalleled entertainment at the Carolina Opry.

We are locals and have enjoyed the Carolina Opry many times over the years. We always find the shows enjoyable, fun and very entertaining. The cast has always been extremely talented and the show was wonderful. Many regular cast members that we have enjoyed over the years and a couple new members that we have not seen before. Time Warp is music from the 50's thru the 80's. I highly recommend any of the shows at the Carolina Opry theater and will always support this wonderful attraction as a most valuable asset to our fair city.

This review is for Time Warp. A large troupe of dancers and singers performed doing music from the 1960s to the 1980s, along with a little bit of musical humor. Please note the music was in the vein of general pop, as opposed to country. The performers were all very high-energy people, and showed a lot of talent in performing the numbers. Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed Act I more than Act II.

Tickets were a little on the high side--tickets for my wife and I ran a little over $100, but when you consider both the talent and the stage effects, I think the money spent was worth the visit.

The first 1/2 hour of the show is terrible - 90% of the audience is 60 plus and the songs that were performed were certainly not music anyone that age enjoyed. I don't know who chooses the songs for the ladies, but many they choose are terrible. Why do "singers" think they have to scream the music - it's not enjoyable to anyone. I presume the ladies have good voices, but it isn't music when they keep screaming the words. Only a couple of the men felt they had to scream and the others were very enjoyable. Sing the music as it was written! The talent of the men playing various instruments was great. The 4 men that clogged were fantastic. Ladies, take a look at the costumes you are wearing and I hope that you see some of them are ridiculous. If you listen to the audience you will see that VERY few people even applaud most of the acts so we aren't the only people that were disappointed in the show.

We were visiting from out of town and this was recommended. There’s only one show a day, so we bought tickets for the day we were able to attend. The website did not have a description of the show nor did our tickets. We were really disappointed to discover it was a show of local school kids. The lines were too long to talk to anybody about a refund or coming back another night. So we just left disappointed. The website and ticket confirmation need to describe special events.

Waves of the Future is a charity event that we volunteer to host through our local Rotary organization each year with 100% of proceeds going back to our schools. The event showcases over 600 students from Kindergarten through Seniors. This is a rare opportunity for these students to showcase their talents on a professional stage and we are so proud of them! Having said that, it is not our intention to sell these tickets to our visitors, the show typically sells out with parent and family tickets. I am so sorry that you were not aware of the nature of this event! This is the first time we have encountered this issue and we will be sure to address it next year and make it clear to all purchasers. I understand the lines were long with a packed house, have you tried to call our box office or email a manager about this yet? If not, please email marketing@cgp.net so that we can resolve this for you. Please include the name that was on the ticket order so that we can locate your account and take it from there. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Always a wonderful show and highly entertaining! The folks here always provide a memorable evening full of music, comedy, and exceptional entertainment. We have been enjoying the shows here for many years. A trip to the beach is not complete without seeing at least one Carolina Opry show. We do miss the presence of Kym "Bogie" Shurbutt and his hilarious comedy routines. While Eric Gumm carries on the tradition, it was the interaction of Eric and Bogie that made for some wonderfully funny moments. R.I.P. Bogie, you are truly missed.

Best show in Mrytle Beach hands down. Went to both shows play there; Time Warp, and Carolina Opry. Same cast of performers on both nights. This one of the most talented group of entertainers I've seen in ages. There is no down time between each act. A constant flow of entertainment. Carolina Opry is a more country flavored show, where Time Warp is rock themed with music from the 60's, 70's, & 80's. A must see!!!

Let me start by saying that I am not a Country Music fan. I went to this show with a friend and was a little concerned during the first 30 minutes when that is all that I heard. After that though - we had a wide variety of music. We were there on a Saturday and saw the traditional Opry show - the talent was amazing and really was a great show. I will go back, but probably to one of the tribute shows. Highly recommend if you are a Country fan.

Highly recommend both shows at TCO, TIME WARP and The Carolina Opry. I’ve attended since they opened in Surfside Beach. Took two grandkids (ages 15 & 10) to the Time Warp last night. They LOVED it and the 10 year old sang along with many of the songs. We will attend again soon!!

I still maintain that this is the best attraction in all of Myrtle Beach. There simply is no better "bang for your buck" than the Carolina Opry. This year's show did not disappoint. My wife and I both absolutely loved it! It is world class entertainment without a doubt. The singers and musicians are simply fabulous right up and down the lineup. There is no weak link amongst these two shows: the Carolin Opry and Time Warp. If you can only do one of the two shows you absolutely positively want to do the Carolina Opry show. It is as good as any Vegas show. Not that Time Warp isn't enjoyable because it most definitely is, it's just that the Carolina Opry show is so darn good it makes it impossible to pass up. Every act is better than the last and with great variety. It is family entertainment in every sense of the word. I strongly and enthusiastically recommend this show. If you have limited time and can only get to a couple of things during your trip make sure to see the Carolina Opry show - you will not regret it I promise you that!
