- Debra K DNorth Wales, Pennsylvania50 contributionsMarket Commons Walk/Run/Stroll pathIf you don’t feel like sandy toes at the beach. You can enjoy getting some exercise, walking, jogging, wogging or treat your pet to a nice walk around the Lake at Market Commons. There’s a wonderful dog water fountain our puppy loves and in the evening you can sit on a bench and enjoy the beautiful blue sky and warm sunset colors. A great way to end the day. Get out and enjoy nature! The kids will enjoy the quacking ducks and the great playgrounds too.Visited August 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten August 14, 2020
- KevinsGirlsEdison, New Jersey714 contributionsLovely place to shop and visitWe came down during the pandemic but it was safely open in many stores. The Barnes and Noble is really big and well kept. The Seacoast artist gallery is filled with fine work by many local artists. There are plenty of benches and rocking chairs around to sit and enjoy the beautiful flowers, plants, and warm summer breezes. If you’re in town this is worth a visit!!!Visited June 2020Traveled with familyWritten June 24, 2020
- David PFayetteville, North Carolina204 contributionsThis is not the Mall, Nice shopping experience. We went on a Saturday morning around 10:00. The traffic was very light and parking was not a problem, found out later they have additional parking behind some of the store fronts. The sidewalks are good size with benches located throughout the pedestrian areas. The stores are excellent with hand sanitizers and masks are currently required while inside. They had a Saturday open-air market in one of the common areas. If you're looking for the mall this is not it, however if you're looking for a relaxed place to shop, eat and see a movie, this is the place. Places include, barber shops, restaurants, beer pubs, movie theater, barnes and noble, yoga studios, dance studios, shops etc.. I highly recommend this nice out-of-the way shopping experience. Also, there is a nice park with lake across the street for walking, running or a picnic.Visited October 2020Written October 18, 2020

My Wife booked us a five day getaway to Myrtle Beach for Valentines week. It was actually a Christmas gift for me to get out of the cold and be able to get a couple rounds of golf in during our winter months. She booked the reservation 12 Dec 2019 and our travel date was 12 Feb 2020. Everything was set and we were excited to get to some decent weather, so we made the 9 hour drive down to MB and arrived at around 5:30 PM. We arrived at the Market Commons and checked and double checked the address on the reservation papers they sent us, only to find out that the address was a realty office which had closed thirty minutes prior! The Market Commons area is actually built on the old Myrtle Beach AFB and everything can be walked too without having the need for a car. We booked there because we are planning to move to Myrtle Beach and my wife loved the area so we had previously looked at houses in the Market Commons. We wanted to get a feel for what it would be like to live there, hence the reason for booking it there. We asked several people where the Market Commons Hotel was but none had ever heard of it? Things were getting very strange at this point, and we had been in the area for almost an hour and still had no answers. We pulled out the papers they sent us and called the 800 number to the company we booked with (Travel The World Services).
Tip:Make sure you don't get the old bait and switch!!!

If a place could be a mannequin, this would be it. It has all the charm of a styrofoam plate. It's been made by metrics, it's meant for people who've never left their backyards and for whom cable and the internet is all their lives.
I pity this magazine ripout of a place that charges $500K for a two bed apartment, overlooking the EXACT same places next door, 3 feet away.
"Come be brainwashed!"

The Market Common is a great place to live or visit. There are a couple of issues to consider though.
1- There are a number of empty storefronts. Presumably these are stores that closed for lack of business. Hopefully the admin will offer attractive rents to keep these slots filled.
2- Parking can be a real problem. There are more homes being build close to the business areas, with more yet to come, and parking slots along the roads stay full. The parking garages are often no better. I recently needed to pick up a food order at Gordon Biersh around 5 PM and found no where to even stop off for a few minutes, had to circle the blocks 4 times until someone left.

Safe, Clean and great shopping and restaurants. A community done well. I recommend to everyone as well as take all my out of town guests. Market Commons should be proud of their diligence in keeping this area very attractive.

We are locals and enjoy spending a day just walking around the center shops and the beautiful park. It's relaxing and we grab some lunch or dinner and feel very safe. Also, there are interesting events seasonally such as art exhibits, concerts in the park and the farmers market. You'll fall in love with this growing community.

I admit I’m a local that loves to shop and Covid times avoids big box stores as much as possible. The shops at Market Common are spacious and never crowded. I could live in Chico’s and Barnes & Noble, in fact Market Common isn’t just shops, you can live next door because Market Common also is a community with condo’s, apartments and private housing. Before Covid my husband and I loved to go to the movie theater here as well as eat in some of the many restaurants. Feel like you need some exercises? There are plenty of green spaces with walking trails and sports fields. Market Common has grown tremendously and may have its own zip code some day but it has maintained the small neighborhood feel and is only minutes from the beach.

This upscale community and retail stores are about five miles south of downtown Myrtle Beach on Business 17. There is a large sign by the eastern entrance of Furrow Pkwy. Another way to remember the place is the airport nearby.
At the eastern entrance is a large Warbird Park dedicated to the US Airforce and their contribution to Myrtle Beach from 1940-1993. There are several original planes like the Fairchild A-10 and a Thunderbolt II. There is even a piece of steel from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Planes can be seen landing and taking off from the airport at Warbird Park.
Market Common is a planned community with one to four storied homes. We had the feeling of being in the “The Truman Show.”
There are a number of parks, biking paths and ballfields in the area. It seemed like half of Market Common is open spaces. A technical college and a Culinary Institute supplement the plan. There is good reason why people want to live here.
There are upscaled shops in the community. We ate at a PF. Changs along Furrow Pkwy. The walkways are blessed to have piped in music. We did make it to the Uncommon Chocolatier shop. They had several dozens of varieties of fudge. A local told us that Honey Tupelo is a good restaurant to eat at. In the past, we have enjoyed eating at Gordon Biersch Brewery in Oahu. There is a Gordon Biersch at Market Common.
There is even a Grand 14 Theater in the complex.
Not far from the main center is an Italian restaurant called Tofino’s. We enjoyed their pizza and a sausage, pepper and onion sub. This restaurant is highly rated.
Farrow Pkwy connects Bus 17 with Highway 17. We followed the speed limits not knowing how heavy road enforcement is.

The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach is such a wonderful place to visit for some shopping, walking, or a great meal. It has a completely different vibe than most other areas of MB, not feeling commercialized. We have a home in one of the MC developments and it is nice to be able to ride a bike through the area.

The Market Common has been developed on the site of the old Myrtle Beach Air Force base and what a tremendous job they have done. From the attractive entrance off US 17 to the lake and downtown full of shops, homes, restaurants, and attractive landscaping with a clean safe atmosphere that is completely walkable. Our visit included the Tidal Creek Brewery that was excellent located about 2 blocks off the center square.

So much to see and attractive setting to just wander or sit and observe or grab a bite to eat. There are several well know shops such at Pottery Barn and Anthropologie, which seem to have a better presentation than my local versions. The homes in the area have really multiplied and make you think it might be a nice place to relocate. The movie theater is now open - a surprise. If you are looking somewhere to spend a pleasant few hours - shopping, eating and observing - this is a good choice.

All of the designated handicap parking is in the perimeter lots including the lot by the movie theater and Barnes & Noble, or in the parking garages off of Deville Street and Reed Street.
