About
The Side Kick is a 32 ft. custom built sport fishing boat. It is part of the Capt. Dicks deep sea fishing fleet which operates out of Crazy Sister marina in the heart of Murrells Inlet about 10 miles south of Myrtle Beach.Owner/Captain Shane Bashor is a fourth generation captain with years of experience in the Charter Boat, Head Boat, and Commercial Fishing Industry. So whether it’s fishing off the Barrier Islands of Georgetown for large sharks, trolling the blue waters of the Gulf Stream for Billfish, or anything in between Captain Shane will do everything possible to make your time on the water a safe, fun, and memorable experience.

My boyfriend went out with Shane about 5 yrs ago, and has referenced that Gulf Stream trip ever since, including after each charter we take out of various different states. This year I got to try out Side Kick for myself. We did the 6 hr morning trip. While we would have loved to do the 9, we have two children under 10, and thought this would be more fitting. This charter is straight to business, which is what you want to see when you are paying by the hour. They are friendly and informative, but make sure to give you the most for your time. Shane’s mate, Jim, sat with my son and showed him various pictures of fish, his pets, etc, on the ride out, which helped ease his mind. We trolled for a bit, and it was slow (as they said it has been), so Shane set us up for bottom fishing, and continued to try new spots as soon as the bite stopped. We caught snapper, grunts, Spanish mackerel, sea bass, false albacore, and had a great time doing so. I have been on several charters that are all leisure, toss out a line, and hope for a bite or two. This is not one of those charters. They want to set you up for success, which is why I will be sure to book w/ Shane next time we return to Garden City.

Capt. Shane was very friendly and so was his Mate Jim. They confirmed what we wanted for the trip and our expectations. We were very pleased with everything. They took us to spots that were good for fishing. They did everything for us because the water was a little choppy and they were concerned for our safety. We caught fish and had a wonderful day. Bathroom on board was a plus for us ladies. Will go again and again. Really fun.

Went on a nine hour trip with capt Shane and had one of the best days fishing ever! We took 6 people with varying experience and were hoping everyone would catch a fish…..we ended up with 57 fish in the box!! And that does not count the ones we threw back. Must of caught close to 100 fish!! Friendly and great guys to fish and spend the day with.

Captain Scott and Jim did an excellent job finding us some fish. We did a 4 hour trip and had a blast. We threw back a lot more than we kept but ended up having a fish fry for a lot of people with what we did take back to the condo.
The “Side Kick” was a comfortable vessel. Six of us had plenty of room to sit and to fish.
Next year we will do an eleven hour trip.
Thank you Captain Scott and Jim for a trip to be remembered.

Awesome fishing trip with Captain Shane! Went on the 9 hour offshore charter. Caught a wide variety of fish...snapper, porgies, grouper, sharks, king fish, barracuda and more.

I've fished with Captain Shane on 5 different occasions. He is an excellent fisherman, guide and even a better person. I've never went out and not caught a bunch of fish! He is as good as there comes!!! Shark fishing trips are awesome! Bottom fishing was off the charts!!! Might go trolling next week with him on our vacation! I wouldn't even consider fishing with someone else. He treats you to well!!! Highly recommended by Patrick Simpson

Me, my dad and friends went out on the Side Kick with Captain Shane out of Murrells Inlet in early September 2014. We purchased the 6 hr. trolling & bottom Fishing combo for $800. First I would like to say Shane is a nice, laid back guy. Easy to talk too. The day we went out it was only Shane working the boat there was no 1st mate to help out our Party of 5. I've been fishing for 25+ yrs. on the Chesapeake Bay and know what I’m doing. Thanks to this knowledge and know how I felt I was the 1st mate. If it wasn't for this Shane would have had his hands full helping out everyone with the fishing rods and so on. Next I would like to bring up the biggest issue. His Tackle and Reels. Most of his hooks were dull and rusty. It even cost my dad the biggest fish of the day. A fish broke the rusty hook in 2. We didn't even get to see the fish! Next is the Fishing Reels, all were in rough condition and needed to be greased. When we were bottom fishing only 2 of the rods had double hooks. And the other had large single hooks. Shane could easily see that the double hooked rods were easily catching more fish. He made no effort to correct the other rods and tie on new hooks. So, if you’re looking for a serious day of fishing and are spending this kind of money make sure to do your research.

We had a fantastic family day out at sea with Captain Shane! He is an outstanding fisherman, knowledgable guide, and kind and good person. He put us on the fish on more than one occasion and we had so much fun pulling in fish after fish! We caught sea bass, vermillion snapper, silver snapper, and sharks! Captain Shane knows where to find the fish! His boat is soooo comfortable that we even took a nap on the way home, pleasantly exhausted from our adventure. The boat has ample seating that is under cover and even has a toilet on board! That was a real plus for the ladies. Out of all the attractions in the area, this is a must do! The Nel family will be back for another day out at sea with Captain Shane. :-)

This was our first time charter fishing in myrtle beach. We looked up other charters then decided to call captain Shane . We had 3 young boys and 2 adults in our party. Captain Shane was excellent ! His first mate Jerome , who happens to be his father, were very friendly and knowledgeable. We caught so many fish my boys got tired of reeling them in . I highly recommend captain Shane and his crew. Will def be back . Thank you captain Shane and daddy Jerome for a memorable trip.

Captain Shane is a ROCKSTAR when it comes to finding the sharks! Off season, running around South Carolina looking for a Captain to take my son shark fishing is how we stumbled upon the Sidekick treasure! A day I thought would be a zero to one shark catch turned into a blast of many sharks for my 10 year old son! The Sidekick is an awesome boat for fishing & relaxing when my son's dose of dramamine kicked in! haha
The abundance of shrimp we caught (that we never expected) was amazing! Captain Shane was a one man crew on our day of shark fishing, handle 5 poles, 3 of us fishing & did it without a glitch! I recommend him to everyone I cross paths with!
