Captain Jamey did an excellent job of making everyone relaxed for the trip. Our younger son battles Asperger's, and he was initially nervous about being out on the ocean. However, Captain Jamey's expert handling of the vessel quickly put our son at ease, to the point that he was enjoying every wave and splash of sea spray.
Captain Jamey made it very clear up front that we might not see any dolphins, and sadly, we did not. However, the trip along the coast was more then worth the ticket price, and the stories he shared about the area and points of interest were wonderful. I had never been all the way to Midway Inlet before, and truly enjoyed seeing familiar parts of the coastline from the water - a new perspective!
Our family will be back as soon as we can. Keep up the great work, Blue Wave Adventures!

Great job by Capt. Jamie and Amy! Very informative and fun cruise despite some rock and rolling water. Really appreciate the time they take to tell you about what you are seeing, with plenty of humor to keep the young ones engaged. Nice that they strive to run a business that is so environmentally responsible also, following the guidelines to keep the dolphins safe, getting offsets so they are carbon neutral, and informing you about the harm they see firsthand from plastic pollution in the ocean. Couldn’t be happier with our trip!

We knew we were taking a risk booking on a cold windy 50° morning. We prepared as best we could and dressed warm for those ocean winds. We knew the chances of seeing dolphins were completely dependent on nature. I think most that are disappointed expect these captains and crew to control things out of the their control. We had a great time. We did see a mother and a baby dolphin. But we throughly enjoyed the captains positive energy, jokes, and kindness. He kept us entertained and educated us more on dolphins and distracted us from the cold. We are grateful for the experience. My 7 and 9 year old loved it. They said “even if we had not seen any dolphins it was still a cool boat ride and chance to experience the ocean.”

Excellent even though we didn’t see dolphins! Obviously no guarantees to see wild life, but the Captain was so informative about the area and so funny with his quips and comments that it was entirely worth it and enjoyable. I’ll do this again in hopes of seeing dolphins. Highly recommend this!!!!

Best part of my trip! I went in without expectations, just happy to be out on the water for a bit. I did the Osprey tour, and Captain Jamey & First Mate Amy were great. I loved how the two boats work together alternating times/routes so that they could be spotters for the other. We headed north passed the Garden City area and didn't think we would have much luck until the Captain of the other boat radioed in the dolphins they spotted. We ended up seeing quite a large pod, there was one guy who just kept darting up out of the water putting on quite a show. Overall a huge success!
On another note, the company is very involved in conservation efforts and passionate about saving our planet and marine life. They are involved on many levels (check out the about us section on their website), and imo reason enough to choose touring with them!

Excellent fun! We went 5/16/22 @ 10 am. The captain was great, the crew was great. Even if you don't see dolphin, it is well worth it. We did see dolphin towards the end of our cruise, but as we were searching they took us down and up the coast, gave us tons of interesting information, and the captain had everyone laughing from the start. It was a great time. Highly recommend.

LOVED this experience on our vacation! The captain was a warm, friendly man with many years experience in Murrells Inlet and the Atlantic coastline. We unfortunately did not see dolphins on our excursion but let me tell you - the captain took us to all the usual sighting locations and he tried his best to find them for us. He was as disappointed as could be that they (the dolphins) were just on a different course for the day. He told us 85% of the time you see the dolphins, and as they are wild and have much room to roam, sometimes they can be elusive. The captain shared much lore and information about the sea life and coast and history. He stopped often along the coast to point things out to us. He talked and interacted with every passenger. We will go again sometime! One of the highlights of our trip! The captain made it special! The ride was enjoyable and much to see even without the dolphins in view.

Nice boat ride on a choppy day. Always fun to be out on the ocean. We saw jellyfish and enough pelicans that they should call it the Pelican Cruise...but no dolphins on this day. The overall experience was great - I dropped a star because of the environmental sermon we got while on the cruise. I love the ocean and want it to be healthy but the environmental propaganda was a little over the top. But if you are looking for a good boat ride and the chance to see some wildlife then this is definitely worth the $31.

Well, the dolphin cruise was great. If we could've controlled the weather and made dolphins appear, it would've been perfect. The company makes it very clear that dolphin sighting is not a guarantee. We knew a storm had come through, and figured the dolphins would be out in deeper waters. They were. But we still enjoyed ourselves. The captain was quite humorous, and we saw some beautiful coastline. They warned us that the water was bumpy, but it didn't seem that bad. I only heard one woman asking for the blue bag (which then became her souvenir lol!) I would highly recommend the Blue Wave dolphin cruise.

The captain was knowledgeable about the area and kept us entertained the whole time. Unfortunately we didn't see dolphins the day we went but the trip was still great and we would recommend it. Will be back again in hopes to see dolphins!

Is the boat able to get wheelchairs on it?
Written September 23, 2019
There was a handicapped guest on board, but I don't recall seeing them board, or how they did it. Sorry.

Will be in Myrtle Beach this year mid-Sept., is this a good time to see the dolphins? Also do you have to have a reservation as we will have to rely on Uber.

Do you over whale tours?
Written January 18, 2017
We do a Dolphin Watch Tour. Dolphins are actually in the whale family. We do have larger whales that come thru the area but because are waters are so shallow along our coastline, they rarely come close to shore. We have seen a humpback whale on one of our tours but again, very rare sighting. in addition, the whales are generally passing by our coast in the winter months. We run March thru November. Let me know if I can help you further.

Can you recommend 2 or 3 hotels/motels near your business? Possible group of 4 adults and 4 children to take your Dolphin Watch tour(August 5th or August 6th) Coming that way from Michigan to do this with grandchildren and daughter?

Which boat do you take out? I see two different boats pictured here. One has chairs and the other it looks as if people are sitting on the side of a raft holding a strap.

How far out in to the ocean do the tours go?
Written June 27, 2016
The tour never leaves sight of the shore - the route basically followed the shoreline. I would say that the boat is never more than 2 miles offshore.
