A great location for birding. Nice trails, observation deck and such. Such a shame hurricane Matthew destroyed the education center. Only negative was our check out at the gift shop. We decided to get a few things for the grand kids and spent over $50. The bad thing is the grump guy who checked us out. A lovely young girl... More

We paid $3.25 (senior rate) each for a car of 4 which was not bad....BUT they should have told us there is nothing to see since Hurricane Matthew came to town. We drove through the park and it took a giant 5 minutes as roads are closed. Please ask before you pay. Oh and they did not have any maps... More

This is one of the nicest state parks we have visited on our travels around the country. We stayed in a site along the perimeter of the campground, with trees behind and to the sides, which gave us a lot of privacy. Although the campground was full over the Thanksgiving weekend, it was fairly quiet. It is an easy walk... More

There are no buildings on the beach and it is very private and secluded. I found it odd that they charged us $5 a head for a state park.

I been to the park a few times and enjoyed it but that was prior to hurricane Mathew. I understand the beach and dunes suffered extensive damage.

Took a ride to the State Park. They have a nice walk way out into the marsh where there were many different types of wildlife to look at. Enjoyed watching the oysters spit. Saw Blue Herons, White Cranes, Egrets, Hawks, Ducks, Mussels, Squirels. Then went to the beach and collected some shells. Went to the castle and took the tour.... More

First time visiting Huntington Beach State park- the beach is just beautiful! Big, flat, great for walking. The trails are nice but not that scenic.Plenty of parking. The Marsh Boardwalk is vey nice for birdwatching and nature. I will return to explore other areas and will recommend for a nice day of hiking or a day at the beach.

My sister and I came hoping to see wild alligators. It was a cooler day and we didn't see any this time unfortunately (my sister had seen 4 on her previous visit). There are tons of walking trails, a bunch of different types of big birds, and lots of peace and quiet this time of year. It was $5 each... More
