So we went to a fish hatchery for first time. Husband’s pick. Nice drive on mountain road. It was self guide. Only SC hatchery. Brown, rainbow and brook trout. Video was interesting to watch but couldn’t hear anything because of noise factor. You just stand...More

It's "just" a fish hatchery but it was a HUGE hit with our two grandchildren. The boys loved seeing the fish. We got to feed them. There was a pet chicken running around and you could fish the creek. There are also some great trails...More

Four of us adults went and I'm glad we did. It's a very short walk from the parking lot into the hatchery over a wooden footbridge. It was amazing to see how the fish were farmed from "milking" the eggs from the femaie, fertilizing them,...More

We thought we were going to get a tour but we're told that tours were for groups of 10 or more. I suggest to get a permit and fish the nearby rivers.

Our kids (4 and 5) love going to the fish hatchery. We always pack a picnic as we tour the area and the hatchery is our picnic stop. There is a great rustic pavilion outside the hatchery that is surrounded by large trees and is...More

My wife and I took a tour of the fish hatchery one morning while we were staying at Oconee State Park. It was very interesting. We both enjoyed seeing how the hatchery was run. It would not be a waste of your time.

Short trip from I-85 at Georgia-South Carolina line to Walhalla into the mountains of SC. Great trip to take young children to see live trout and to be able to feed them.

Always enjoy walking through the hatchery. My Uncle worked here for probably 40 years starting back in the early 60s. They have large water tanks holding brown trout, brook trout and rainbow trout in various sizes all the way up to one tank holding fish...More
