Went on a two hour kayaking tour of Shem Creek, led by Dan. He kept up an informal, interesting narrative as the small group I was part of paddled along. He pointed out the live oaks, birdlife, and the marshes. Before we set out, he gave a quick demo on paddling techniques. He kept an eye on everyone and pointed out where we should be in order to stay out of way of the boats

We participated in a 10 person sunset kayak tour. There were 5 adults and 5 kids, each kid paired with an adult in tandem kayaks. The weather was perfect and Ben, our guide, did an excellent job educating us on our surroundings in Shem Creek. We saw 5 dolphins and paddles out to sandbar where we hunted for shells and shark teeth while watching the sun set. Weather was perfect and all of the kids, ranging in age from 5 to 11, had a great time and helped paddle making this a great family-friendly excursion!

My husband and I took the 2 hour kayaking tour this past weekend. Due to COVID, Nature Adventures limited the number of people that could go out at a time which in the end really benefited us as it was literally just us and our tour guide Graham. Graham was great and brought us all throughout Shem Creek and brought us out the the Charleston Harbor.
I would not only recommend Nature Adventures for kayaking, but I'd also recommend the 8AM time slot. I know the time may look early and daunting, but it was so worth it! It wasn't as busy out on the water and it was extremely peaceful. We had so much fun and cannot wait to come back again to kayak again with Nature Adventures!

We decided to go kayaking on a guided tour. We had a a very small group of two couples and the guide. I would recommend going on a rainy day because you aren’t sweating while kayaking. We were able to go through some estuaries and the guide gave us some very interesting details.

My husband and I joined a 2-hour guided tour in a tandem kayak and it was one of the best things we did while visiting South Carolina! Our guide, Ben, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, very well-versed in basic kayak instruction, and, as a bonus, was full of restaurant and outing recommendations in the area. We saw several pods of dolphins while in the water, and enjoyed lots of other bird sightings. Plus, Nature Adventures is right on Shem Creek, surrounded by waterside restaurants for post-tour eats. We'd highly recommend this spot for a kayak tour!

I would honestly recommend nature adventures over and over. They are absolutely amazing from booking all the way to the end of the trip. We will use them again for sure. Our guide was absolutely amazing and someone in our group canceled very last minute and no one else could go, she was nice enough to hop in a kayak with my daughter who has never done this before, she taught her how and didn’t mind at all. She has so much information to share while on our trip. I don’t think you’d get this type of service anywhere else!!!!

We were lucky enough to get in an afternoon of Kayaking before the virus caused the company to temporarily close.
We had Eric as our guide and he was fantastic, so knowledgeable about the wild life.
There were 6 of us and we paddled down the creek in both directions. We saw several different birds and were treated to a dolphin playing with us at the end of our tour.
The company owner, Ben, was super helpful. The kayaks are clean and in great shape. We had a great day!
I highly recommend this company for an outdoor adventure. The price is reasonable and it is a great way to spend the afternoon.
I’m looking forward to doing this again the next time I am in town.

Highly recommend the 2-hour kayak tour! We learned so much about the wildlife and history of the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area from our guide Matt. Although we missed the dolphins, there was tons of bird activity and even a few manatees!
We took a Saturday morning tour and the water was pretty calm with a few boats passing by. By the time we returned at noon there was some more boat traffic, but Matt did a great job navigating the group.

Rented a Kayak from these guys and they are following all Covid-19 precautions as well as limiting the number of people they allow to rent kayaks at any one time. The time on the water was peaceful and saw a dozen dolphins some within a foot of me. Great company and I’ll use them again.

Ben was a great guide! The kayaks were nice with good seats. We saw lots of different birds and several dolphins. The dolphins were close and playful slapping their tails. It was a great trip! Really worth the money. Would definitely go again!

Is this ok for a very small child and what type of boat is it and how long is the tour?

Annie, Thanks for adding this information. Apologizes I didn't see this sooner. The minimum age we are able to do is 4 and I would definitely agree the Tandem would be the best option. Tour or rental would vary based on the type of experience you are seeking. Love to help if you have any other questions. Again, thank you Annie!

Hi. I have two things to ask about:
1. If I have a group of 6-8 at the end of Sept., how soon should I book this reservation? It can't be
last minute, like the day before, can it?
2. With all the recent shark activity in the general area, are you still taking kayak tours to all your regular spots? Have any sharks been seen during kayak tours? Are sharks known to be in the bodies of water that your kayak tours to? The 1-2 hour tours? Sorry- a little paranoid!
Thanks for whatever you can tell me! -Laura

Hi Susan, On Shem Creek we paddle in the salt marsh areas and in a very shallow bay. There are small sand sharks we've seen but they are typically about 1 ft. in length and that is on a rare occasion. The area is frequented by dolphins and the two don't mix. We've been paddling here for over 20 years with no problems. Come see us! 843-568-3222
