Thank you very much for taking the time to share how much you enjoyed your evening. That is a pretty amazing compliment and I don't take it lightly. I strive for extraordinary but when somebody takes the time to tell others it makes me really happy. Please reach out to me if there is anything I can do for you again in the future.

Chef ty is absolutely incredible!! Not only is he so easy to work with, he is flexible, fun and just a great person overall. I planned a getaway for my parents 30th wedding anniversary where we were on a boat. Chef ty went over and above to accommodate! He was able to be flexible with the space he was working in as well as the menu still getting all fresh and local food. It was a surprise for my parent as well so he was amazing at helping with all of the details! I can honestly say everyone loved and finished their plates on every single dish. Things just kept getting better and better!!

Once my parents arrived, We started the evening off with a fresh made whipped ricotta cheese Crostini there he had made earlier that day!! it was unbelievable! We had three toppings that we could put on top including Olive Tapenade, Sun Dried Tomato Jam, and Local Honey from a bee farm right in Charleston!! We absolutely LOVED this starter and had plenty of leftovers that I was eating it all the next day on the boat as well.

The second course started with a shaved Kale salad that was our family friends favorite part of the meal!! It was a shaved kale salad with lemon, dried blueberries, pecorino cheese and pine nuts. sounds so simple, but it was one of those things that was just so memorable and delicious!!

The next dish was a roasted beet and tartar salad that was out of this world. my parents are huge beet lovers, but I personally am not and believe me when I say I cleaned my plate on this one! It was cubes of roasted beet, goat gouda (which was amazing), fine herbs, lemon, and cubes of jicama. This was such a pleasant surprise and such a different type of beet salad that everything loved.

The fourth dish of the evening was vermillion snapper ceviche. THIS WAS SO GOOD! locally caught fish from that morning which you could just taste the difference in how fresh it was compared to at home (we are from Missouri so not a lot of seafood going on there). This ceviche has Persian cucumbers, chilies which gave it a little subtle kick, lime, Thai basil, and corn nuts for a bit of a unique crunch which we loved! I just couldn't believe how fresh this dish tasted which really shows how out of the way chef ty goes to get the most fresh and local food available. I mean shopping for the food day of?! comon! amazing!

The fifth dish was something that my mom and I talked about trying to make at home! it was grilled pepper shrimp with watermelon, pickled watermelon rind, and mint. It was so refreshing and so delicious with the peppered shrimp that you would never think to put the two together!!! Well see how my mom's and my dish turn out, but Im sure it will not be as delicious as chef ty's!

The Main event was my dad favorite part of the meal. And let me tell you we had gone to halls chophouse the night before and my parents literally said that Chef Ty's steak was the best meal they had had all week. Chef Ty served 30 day aged prime New York Strip Steak with a local purple potato puree, roasted mushrooms and an incredible bordelaise sauce. The meat was so delicious, it just melted in your mouth. If you ever have Chef Ty for an event I highly highly highly suggest having him prepare this for you!! it was life changing.

Finally after all this food you would think we wouldn't have been able to eat anymore. But then Chef Ty brings out personalized Vanilla Creme Brûlées out to the boat with Gingered Sugar on top and makes them table side right in from of us!! he tops them with fresh south Carolina Peaches on top and within minutes they were completely gone. It was the perfect way to end the meal.

We finished with a toast and i could see how happy my parents were all thanks to Chef Ty. He really made the night one that we will never forget. I cannot thank you enough Chef Ty, you were more than I ever could have thought of and just a stand up guy. Cannot wait to work with you again!

Dear Savannah, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely detailed review. One could read this and truly relive the evening. You're compliments mean the world to me and the whole reason I do what I do. I must say that you and your family are some of the nicest and appreciative people that I have ever cooked for, which makes my job that much more pleasurable. Thank you also for making all of the arrangements and logistics it took to pull this off together. You made every effort to help me understand the challenges we may face which allowed me to prepare accordingly. I was extremely happy with the evening, the food and loved cooking on your boat. Such a fun unique event and like you said. I can't wait to work with you again as well. All the best to you and your family! Sincerely, Chef Ty

My wife and I attended a dinner prepared by Chef Ty Kotz last week. This was a multi course dinner prepared for a party of 8, made from fresh ingredients right in front of us. Dinner included appetizers (made in front of us, one by one, including zesty and delicious snapper ceviche (local and freshly caught), kale salad bursting with flavors of dried blueberries, pecorino romano, topped off with toasted almonds, soup made from several types of squash (I usually avoid soup, but inhaled every molecule of this one) , and an entree of prime standing rib roast, flown in for the occasion from New York, with sides of sautéed peppered local, large succulent shrimp, as well as fried small Yukon gold potatoes, and roasted mushrooms {several varieties} . The infused potatoes were slightly smashed and then fried to crispy goodness and finished off with garlic infused extra virgin olive oil.
Desert was a fabulous Creme Brule.... Yummmmm.

The Dinner was arguably the best meal of our adult life. Not only was the food incredibly delicious, but the friendly entertaining method of presentation and preparation, highly skilled, yet open to questions made for an evening to remember. Chef Ty is a master, who makes the difficult look easy, always a mark of great experience.

I hope others take an opportunity to have a similar experience, well worth remembering.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience. I had a fantastic time as well. Part of what makes an evening so special is my audience and you were all so fantastic. I also understand the effort it takes to write a thoughtful review and that to do so, one has to truly wow his guests. So thank you again. What a compliment! I hope that I get the opportunity to cook for you again someday.

We had a dinner party last Saturday (2/16) and it was more than an incredible dining experience.

Chef Ty is a “recipe of artistry and craft mixed with a one-of-a-kind entertainer.”
Very interactive with a broad spectrum of cooking techniques, spices and the true chemistry of cooking.

Our group of 8 had so much fun (4 hours of watching & tasting) and... the best part-no clean up afterwards.

We have officially named this evening, “The Dinner”

BTW: Our dinner guests are still texting about it a week later.

Our extended family of 13 was in Charleston celebrating my mother in law's big birthday. We rented a house and had Chef Ty come in to prepare dinner for us. EVERYTHING was fantastic! The food was incredibly delicious and Chef Ty was so personable and fun! Everyone had a wonderful time and this dinner was truly the highlight of our trip. We even had a fridge full of leftovers, which we enjoyed the next day.

Ty was a pleasure to collaborate with on our beach luncheon. Professional, adaptable, excellent listener, very experienced. He used very fresh local ingredients, custom made several sauces, came extremely well-prepared, and was a delight to have around our family for several hours. We hated to see him go, and cannot wait to hire him again!

For our daughter's graduation from nursing school we gave her the choice of a restaurant dinner or a dining experience in our home with a private chef. She chose the latter-an interactive evening with Chef Ty, who came highly recommended to us by close friends.
You can read all about his professional background and culinary achievements on his website-here I want to share about HOW he does what he does.
From our first conversation over the phone, Ty exudes a warm and professional demeanor. He is down to earth, listens well and made thoughtful suggestions based on the information we gave him about our likes and dislikes. He also has professional relationships in the wine and beverage industry and so we were able to order the perfect wine pairings for the dinner.
When we met at our home to discuss the dinner for our daughter, we instantly formed a connection with this experienced and adventurous chef! It is no small thing to invite someone into your home to cook in your kitchen. We were impressed with his quick ability to understand and appreciate our unique palate. Our family is comprised of some outstanding and discriminating middle eastern cooks, women who brought the flavors of Lebanon to America decades ago. They are not easy to impress.
Chef Ty in coordination with us, created a fabulous and unique menu which captured our family's favorite flavors and reflected our tastes but with his distinct and creative style! From appetizers (made in front of us, one by one) which included delicately fried zucchini flowers (hand picked the morning before) with a side option of his own ricotta cheese which he makes from milk produced by local cows, zesty and flavorful flounder ceviche (local and freshly caught), kale salad bursting with flavors of dried blueberries, pecorino romano, topped off with toasted almonds to entrees of pan seared filet mignon sizzling with garlic and fresh rosemary (from Chef's own garden) topped with a deeply flavorful bordelaise sauce (with chicken stock made entirely from scratch) and grilled peppered local, large succulent shrimp, we were all immersed in a culinary extravaganza! Accompaniments to our entrees were delightfully fresh and local green beans sauteed with hand roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and topped with toasted pecans! (These green beans were so fresh and delicious, that three days later I was still enjoying the last of the leftovers!) Chef cut chunky pieces of local heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers tossed with basil in lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and salt and pepper. The heirlooms were packed with flavor and freshness which made this salad stand!. Rosemary infused fingerling potatoes were slightly smashed and then sauteed to crispy goodness and finished off with garlic infused extra virgin olive oil! Our family members were absolutely impressed!
Because Chef Ty's culinary philosophy is literally farm to table, he travels around the Lowcountry procuring only locally harvested, fresh produce, seafood, dairy, and other ingredients, leaving just a day or two from harvest to preparation. He stays true to this approach and every dish he prepares reflects this standard of excellence.
To finish our incredible dining event, Chef made a silky and luscious creme brulee
(our favorite of any we've previously had) complete with caramelizing each dish (to our delight!) while we watched. Freshly picked local strawberries and peaches (bursting with flavor) were offered with the creme brulee. Our family sat in contented amazement after a truly remarkable and fun evening (filled with lots of questions which he not only graciously answers but encourages!).
What really stands out about Chef Ty, is how he expertly crafts his abilities, personality and high standards into an unforgettable experience. It wasn't just the amazing ingredients or recipes, it was how he interwove his passion for the process of creating an amazing menu, a truly enjoyable evening and a level of excellence which we seldom see in the local culinary industry. From the moment we met and planned our dinner to the end of the evening as he cleaned up and left our kitchen better than he found it, he did not once waver in enthusiasm, professionalism or joyfulness.

Wow! Where do I begin?! Chef Ty Kotz with Interactive Home Cooking was phenomenal! I was so impressed from start to finish. When I first spoke with him to begin planning my event, his enthusiasm on the phone already had me excited before I even laid eyes on the proposed menu. He was so easy to talk to, open to my ideas and personal preferences but also steered me in the right direction to creating a perfect dinner party!

I wanted a farm-to-table experience right in my own home to share with some of my closest girlfriends, and he gave me exactly that and more! I'm open minded when it comes to food, so when Chef Ty presented me with the alternative indian inspired cuisine over the "typical" farm-to-table concept, I was intrigued. I didn't know much about it or what to expect, so he shared some inspiring cookbooks with me to understand the style and ingredients. Fresh, local farm to table food with a flavorful twist...Yes, please! Then I learned that his deepest passion lies in the bold flavors and aromatic spices of indian cuisine and I knew it was a no-brainer. Just check out his culinary background! If it makes Chef Ty light up to talk about it, I want that!

He was very professional, organized, clean, and 110% prepared. I followed him on Instagram to see some teasers as he spent the week gathering local and fresh ingredients. I was having fun before the event even started! I was so impressed to see all the preparation he had put into the meal as he unloaded all his ingredients, tools and equipment, and it wasn't long before my house smelled absolutely amazing as he began to prepare the meal. The aromatics of the food were setting in and the rest of the evening just blew my mind. We had 3 fantastic appetizers of which I had second servings because I really couldn't help myself, it was just that delicious! All of his unique dinner courses were fabulous from beginning to end and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients with every bite. It was all such a treat!

Chef Ty is an engaging, incredibly talented master of his craft, and we are blessed to have him in Charleston. I would recommend him to anyone for any style of food, and I look forward to the next chance to collaborate with him again. It was a one-of-a-kind experience that I will always remember, and my guests are still raving about it too! Thank you Ty!!
