There were a few birds and fish you could see swimming the walk itself around it is very simple. Lots of people out taking their dogs for a walk.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 25, 2024
- CBonn57Quispamsis, Canada389 contributionsGreat trail walkingRecommended at the Welcome centre across the street . Well kept walking trails. Walked to the various boardwalks. Meet Mrs. Hartwell who was clearing the bench in memory of her husband. A lovely lady . Didn’t see much in the way of birds but nonetheless a very area walk .Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 26, 2024
- KarinmchMechanicsburg, Pennsylvania249 contributionsPretty and Peaceful.Peaceful and pretty. Enjoyed walking the trails through the marsh forest. The boardwalks over the marsh are in very good shape. Watched several boats on the Intercoastal waterway. Wished we had brought lunch with us. There were several picnic tables with a view of the waterway. Great place for family time as wellVisited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 12, 2024
- Married_Couple2009Louisa, Kentucky121 contributionsLoved every second of it!This is an excellent place for taking a leisurely walk! We absolutely loved it and thought it was beautiful! The trails go through the woods, over marshes, and next to the water. The highlight of our walk was the “wishing trees.” Here, you can hang a mollusk shell on a tree and make a wish. You will find tons of these shells on the ground by the water. Some people had painted their shell or written their name/date on them. If you have kids, be sure to pick up a scavenger hunt brochure at the beginning of the blue trail. We highly recommend visiting and we would definitely go back!Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 15, 2024

A promising place, but there were no signs so I had no clue where I was going. I just drove on and on but never found parking areas. I realized the parking was at the entrance (unmarked that it was parking FOR the garden) which means one has to walk all the way into the interior. I just U-turned and left. SIGNS & DIRECTIONS NEEDED!

This is a little piece of heaven. Being local, it's one of my favorite places. Always well maintained( by volunteers) and always clean. Like a different place everytime you go there depending on the tide and time of year.

We had a very enjoyable time as a family here. We walked all the way down from the parking area on 17, or you could cheat and drive to the bottom. Right on the intracoastal many trails, and lots of crabs and bars to see. Very pleasant experience and will be back soon to check out some other trails. There are port-o-johns on property along with site maps.

We moved to Little River in May of 19. After driving by the entrance for months on our way to Calabash, we decided to stop. What a treat. We always bring our guests here when visiting the area. Such a SPECIAL place.

I needed to get out of the house during this troubling time, so decided to visit this lovely place. I had never heard of it until my son told me about it. (I've passed it by many times). There are many walking trails, some boardwalk, that meander through the marsh land. There is a rocky beach on the water. Many funky trees as you wander the trails! There is a tree that you are encouraged to hang oyster shells on to celebrate your visit! Quite charming!! Wonderful photo ops!! Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout. Great for dog walking and safe for children! There are a couple porta potties available. Best of all, it's FREE!! I intend to come again-there is one trail I didn't walk.

This place was recommended to us, so we went, not really knowing what it was. Well, now we do and we'll recommend it to others. It's a quiet, family-oriented woodland park on the waterfront. With easy walking trails, picnic spots, lots of parking, porta-potties (if needed), this is an ideal destination for a family outing. Don't hesitate. Just go!

My husband and I spent a few hours here with our teen and tween sons. This place is a hidden gem and is absolutely gorgeous. It has hiking trails, the beach, lots of shade and lots of space to spread out.

My family and I come here every time we visit my sister who lives in the area. This is a beautiful, quiet park for the entire family to enjoy. Our two toddler boys enjoyed exploring this area very much. It's a beautiful hidden gem away from the tourism.

This is a very nice place to walk and enjoy nature and the scenery. We went there for an evening walk and saw a herd of deer. The boardwalk is nice and leads down to the intercostal where you can watch the boats go by. There are fantastic views. You can walk through the nature trails or hang out by the water. This is a very nice peaceful place where you can de stress. They do have some swings and grills for families who want to picnic. A must see. We drove by all the time and finally stopped to explore. Most of my neighbors have never been there.

We came here to hike and saw a variety of animals. If you bird, we saw Painted Bunting, Carolina Wren, Snowy Egret, Brown Thrasher and about a dozen more common birds.
Nice board walks over marshes, a beach with oyster shells, shaded paths and other nice trails.

Yes. Parks are still open for hiking and biking and exercising in Horry County. Going forward I would check with the Horry County Parks and Recreation website to verify.

Is there info on length of each trail
Written April 11, 2018
You can pick up a trail map at the office on the left at the entrance. The trails are color coded. The length from the Intracoastal Waterway to the entrance is lengthy. We parked at the deepest parking lot and walked from the waterway to the entrance to get a map. We then walked the trail on the other side of the road back. There are multiple trails, all very nice walks.

It would be easier if I knew where you were coming from, but lets just assume your starting point in the S. Car. Welcome Center on Rt=17 as you head south.. Make U-Turn heading north and within 200 yds you'll see Rt-179 on your right side. Once you turn on 179, look immediately on your right for entrance to Vereen Gardens. If you get to stop sign, you've been too far.
