We love CMP. The folks who run Carolina Motorsports Park are very laid back and friendly. We love going there and shooting photos of events. The track is awesome and has some excellent vantage points.

Great place, good venue

This is certainly a fun track to go around, even the pros come out from time to time and hit it. But be weary, the track surface is VERY rough and can eat your tires quickly!

HPDE Weekend - NO FUEL AVAILABLE
Sep 2018 • Solo
The Carolinas Region of the Porsche Club of America rented the track for a Saturday-Sunday track weekend. The PCA folks were awesome, the facilities were good but for a few items. I enjoyed my time there and would go back, but there are a few caveats.

Do NOT expect to be able to refuel at the track! I missed my last 40 minute session Sunday afternoon because I used all my fuel earlier in the day.

With 40 minutes to go before my session I headed to the pumps to refuel. No pumps were working, even with a helpful maintenance guy from the track trying for nearly 20 minutes to get them running. It turns out the pumps are owned and run by Sunoco, and the pumps are 1970’s vintage. They are broken far more often than they work, and are the bane of the maintenance team’s existence.

Outside the gate is a small gas station, but he has only 90 octane, which I can’t run. It is a 15 minute drive into town to get 93 octane with 10% ethanol. Fifteen back, five to pump, so you should expect to spend 40-45 minutes to refuel.

The track pumps offer 93 Octane ethanol-free at about $6/gallon. They also have 100 octane for $9.00/gallon and 110 leaded for $9.50/gallon. At those prices with a semi-captive audience in the middle of nowhere you would think they’d be motivated to keep the pumps working, but they are not.

The PCA guys offered me fuel from the barrels they brought, but by then the session was nearly over, so I just drove into town, fueled, and drove home.

Second issue is that the track surface has not been paved in years. This track is notoriously tough on tires. Expect two days to take a noticeable bite out of your tires. The track is on the Sandhills and expect your tires to get quite “greasy” with the heat and sand.

I had brand new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire’s installed. See the picture to see what they looked like after one day.

Tape the front of your car to protect from sandblasting and tread chunks thrown by any cars in front of you.

Weekend High Performance Driving School
Jun 2017 • Solo
This is a great sports car track (and separate track for go carts- not used by me). It is highly technical but safe in that there are plenty of wide sandy places to go if necessary. The paddock is large, lots of close cropped grass and some shade trees. Everything is low key but very well kept and clean. My school was put on by the Tarheel Sports Car Club, which rented the facility for the weekend. Everything went like clockwork and was very safe and professionally done. Fun and educational too! I do not know if the track has any spectator events or is mostly for hands on driving. -- one can go and drive their go carts on a smaller track adjacent to the course we were using.

A great track and Excellent Food
May 2017 • Friends
The track and workers are outstanding. My only negative is that they lock the pit gate at 5pm. It makes working on cars a bit of a hassle. I enjoyed the laps and track layout.

The Food Stand is one of the best I have been to. Burgers with various topping, When have you ever had options like Havarti, Swiss, Blue Cheese. The Chicken salad was great.

They also have several hot sauces, The Angry Sauce is made with a North Carolina pepper that is really hot. The only thing to make it better would be fries.

This is a great Track

Did a party here and it was fantastic. David and his staff are great. If you are looking to treat your employees or friends to a fun day call and set up a private race party. You will leave with a smile on your face and tired from all the fun. The experience is not easily forgotten.

Excellent Facility
Mar 2017 • Couples
If you have visited any other track facility like this, this ranks in the highest. Start with a great, always pleasant staff. Very clean facilities. Good condition track. Full and midget tracks. Rent a midget. And race. Excellent competitive course. Raced it myself in a Spec 5 and found it very competitive.Plenty of place for people to watch. Somewhat "remote" with Camden (about 10,000) the closest larger town with inns, restaurants etc. about 12 miles to the south (and I-20)

My 12 yr old had a Blast. Mom & Dad did too !
Jul 2016 • Family
We came out to Carolina Motorsports Track this morning Saturday July 30, We had a Blast, for about an hour and half of fun, these go karts are fast, up to 50 mph, and the track is seems like 10 times bigger than a Frankie's Fun Park track, between the 3 of us we divided 6 sessions, and it's worth it !, You get a little break to get water or Gatorade and use bathrooms between sessions, I can see why some more experienced wear fire suits, because if your wearing shorts like us, the gravel does kick back up on your legs, and some rubber from the tires, You do get a little hot wearing those Racing Helmets and Neck Brace's, but they do their best to keep one safe , just in case you flip over or something. My son and Husband really really had a good time and drove the fastest without fear, I stayed behind until 2nd session the next 10 laps, and I got use to it and let it rip, I came in 2nd at the end, I spun out 4 times on the last session, but I was driving full throttle, had lots of laughs passing my son and better half then vice versa. It's well worth the drive to get out there , and the Staff Pam, Tyler, and Clyde were Fantastic, Very Nice and Courteous as can be, they handle you with extreme care, which is a good thing. Thank You For The Best and Memorable Time of Our Lives !!!! Enjoyed It VERY much.
