Thank you John and Affinity Charters for the trip of a lifetime! I have been in Charleston for a while now and have fished with many guides. I have to say that my experience with Affinity Charters is the best that I have ever had.

I got a last minute call to fill a spot in the Redbone Lowcountry Red Trout tournament and had no idea what I was getting into that weekend. Captain John said we were “going to go after them hard” and he backed up that statement 100%. We caught over 100 redfish the first day and almost 80 on the second day of the tournament. Needless to say we blistered the competition and really turned some heads. With John’s guidance we took home almost every category: Master Angler, most redfish released, most reds on artificial, team overall and runner up in reds and artificial. It has been a couple of days since or fish slaying and I still have sore arms from wrangling in all those red fish.

John’s positive attitude, skill, and personality make him a pleasure to be around. He is truly a passionate outdoorsman and we shared many great stories about being on the water or deep in the woods. Everyone should have the opportunity to fish with Captain John Ward and Affinity Charters.

Thank you again for a once in a lifetime outing and a big tournament win!

Had the chance to go out on a trip with Colt on the 10th. It was my Father in law, Brother in law and 11 year old son for a six hour day. Probably the hardest day of not catching much I have had in a while, but it was not for lack of knowledge or effort. Colt worked harder than any captain we have ever gone with, making sure that my son did not go away empty handed and he caught a 17+ lb shark. Overall had a great experience and will write off the day to random acts of fishlessness. Next time we come back, I will be looking up Affinity and requesting Captain Colt.

My family stayed in Kiawah for a family reunion for a week and wanted to do a little fishing, so I gave John a call after reading the rave reviews. Our trip certainly lived up to the hype. A group of 6 of us met Captain John Fuss at the dock and after cruising the harbor to get to the first spot, we pulled in several large bonnet head sharks. When the bite slowed down there, John took us to a deep ledge and we immediately got into a school of large redfish. We caught 8-10 27"+ reds in about a 30-45 minute span, while another boat 100 yards down from us got skunked fishing the same hole. John was very professional, easy to talk to and get along with, knew exactly where the fish were, and made our trip a success. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area.

Capt. John does fishing right. He kept 3 grown men entertained, engaged and catching fish the whole four hours. We caught 21 total fish from 11 different species. Capt John put us right on the fish and coached us with the touch of a seasoned pro. In addition to the fish we caught we also spotted dolphin, turtles and birds galore. Nothing better than catching fish with friends. And I can't imagine having more fun than we had today. Thank you Capt John.

Captain John was great with my 10 yr old grandson. He had never caught a fish of any kind before. Captain John was so patient and made this a memorable trip that my grandson has not stopped talking about. Definitely recommend for a kids experience. Caught trout, reds, stingray and puffer fish.

Recently took my wife on an inshore fishing trip with Capt. John and had a great time. I live in Charleston and every once in a while will take a trip to learn new tactics and technics. John is an excellent guide and has a wealth of knowledge about the species and local habitat. Wife enjoyed it more than anything. Not sure if she will ever fish with me again since we dont catch nearly the amount of fish as we did on this trip.

I took my 2 teenagers for a long weekend in Charleston and thought it would be a treat to spend some time fishing. My daughter is (17) and my son is (14). On the drive to Charleston I told them I had a special surpirse planned for one of the mornings. (If you have teenagers that KNOW IT ALL....it was a lot of fun to keep them in the dark.)
Captain Julian picked us up at the pier with a clean boat and the fishing equipment ready to go. He told me that he knew we wanted to go near-shore, but had concerns the weather was not cooperating. As we headed out past Ft. Sumter, he saw other fishing boats coming back in and said it was a good indicator the water was getting rough and that it was best to stay in-shore.
He took us to a place back in a channel and set us to fishing. Within the first 10 minutes my daughter had caught a LARGE red-fish!!! She followed it up with another. Needless to say, my son and i were not feeling so "manly", as we had not caught a fish yet. It did not take long until we were working Captain Julian hard keeping up with baiting and removing fish!
My son caught 3 different kinds of fish.....red-fish, flounder, and trout. We had a great time and enjoyed being on the water which is very relaxing.
When I scheduled the trip, I did not know what my kids would think about it. But my concerns were answered immediated after leaving the boat. My daughter posted a picture of her and her HUGE red-fish on her twitter page before we got back to the car. Later that afternoon, my son told me how much he appreciated going fishing and that he would like to do it again. (Even my daughter said she wanted to go back.) Captain Julian made the mistake of telling my son that Shark Fishing trips are available...now he wants to go do that.
Thanks for providing a great family memory! Highly recommend going on a trip and do it with Affintity Charters.

My dad and I went inshore fishing with Colt. We didn't have the best bite but Colt worked his tail off to put my dad and I on 2 huge Reds! We had a great time and Colt was a pleasure to fish with. Affinity does a great job of making you feel like family.

We took a 6 hour charter with Affinity Charters with a 7 and 10 year old. Captain John Fuss kept the kids entertained the entire trip. From catching bait fish to start the morning to educating them on the wildlife we came across on our trip. We were on the fish the entire charter, catching over a dozen species, culminated by some giant Redfish and several sharks. Cant wait to return for another trip with Affinity Charters.

I realize that fishing for fish and catching fish are not the same but $150 a fish was disappointing
Capt John didn't take us but a young enthusiastic fellow did-- didn't get to go out to the reef which John mentioned in the prom call to him----wonder if that would have made the trip worthwhile Got some nice views of Charleston from the water. Don't feel this was a serious fishing trip

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. We always strive to make every fishing trip the most productive and memory filled for each customer. You requested a trip with the most action for conditions and that is why I suggested the reef which is usually large numbers of smaller fish. I suggested a morning start time which you booked for 7:30, to get you guys out there before the afternoon sea breeze and the chop. At the last minute you wanted to cancel your morning tour and switch to the afternoon. Which we switched for you to accommodate your needs and wishes , even though we suggested the morning time to be the best. With going in the afternoon the seas picked up which kept us inshore instead of the reef. You guys caught more than 6 bluefish casting lures and lost a few more, after that Capt Colt tried to get you guys on something larger like bull redfish , but only caught a few sharks, whiting and sea bass. He moved on to do more structure fishing for reds and you guys boated a nice black drum. Capt Colt worked hard and kept you guys out extra time to make up for the slower bite. Hopefully you guys enjoyed the fresh fish dinner, after returning Colt cleaned and bagged up the drum and whiting. Colt was upset that the fishing was slower than normal that day, but tried to keep everyone busy and entertained. Thank you for your comments and suggestions, Capt John / Affinity Charters
