Chair and umbrella rental service is poor due to Local government apparently. Local laws will not allow them to carry the chairs or the umbrellas - only allowed to dig hole in sand. Bring your own. The chairs and umbrellas are rusted and should have been replaced 10 years ago. Beach is nice. They have bathrooms. Folly beach county park is much better.

Access to the beach is worth the price of parking. Parking is easy and convenient. There is access to restrooms, changing rooms, and showers. There is also a great playground for the kids. My two toddlers enjoyed the playground very much.
Everyone respected social distancing and we had no concerns regarding safety. It was a wonderful beach day!

It has been a 5 for many years. Now i have a handicap i require portable oxygen and it takes everything i have to get up to the bathroom even with oxygen on. Please put a bathroom on ground level for people like me. So far i can just manage everything else. I csn walk slowly to the beach but not to the bathroom. Please address this!

The water was great. There was little surf, but very family friendly atmosphere. I liked the clean restrooms, showers, and parking. Well organized set up as long as you get there early. When we left, the line into the beach was long.

This is a well kept and clean area/facility.
The beaches are both guarded and patrolled. They are kept
free of clutter and debris. Great place for all including families.Toilet and changing facilities available along with a large washdown/off area as you depart. Local resauarants located nearby as are many of the overnight establishments whether hotels or rentals. We go there often whether to enjoy the water or stroll down the beach or engage in a game of Bocci with friends. If you see the Starfish on the shoreline they probably are not dead and just unfortunately washed in. Put them back in the water... they are probably still alive. You might find some shells and sand dollars too. Wind surfing, kite flying are also activities that you will see. ENJOY the area.....

The county did a beautiful job with this park by the beach. It is less than a half-hour trip by car from Charleston to get there. The cost to park in-season is $10. There are newly built changing rooms, bathrooms, vending machines for cold drinks. The beach is very clean and the water is very pretty. There is also a long pier you can fish from if you so desire. You might even get to see Howard aka "Sandy Claus" (an Isles of Palms regular) like we did and get your picture taken with him!

Don't get me wrong, the beach was nice, as beaches go but the parking ticket cops are all over the place, and the parking is poorly marked. Go to Folly beach and keep the tax revenue away from this crooked little hole of a town!

The pier shown on the pic is private!!! We paid 7 dollars for the parking for nothing. I would prefer this posts to be more transparent. Even they wanted to rent us fishing poles.

My husband and I recently vacationed at IOP. They seem very uptight here. $1000 fine if caught drinking on the beach. What does it hurt for two 50 year old adults to drink a beer (in a cup I might add) on the beach?? The beach is supposed to be laid back and they are quite the opposite on this beach. We won't go back. Edisto Beach is much better.

Many public beach access so parks are lacking something that's needed for day trips to a beach. Isle of Palms has everything, from rest rooms, showers, changing rooms - chair and umbrella rentals available. That is all I'm looking for, so my new favorite beach in Charleston area is Isle of Palms County Park.

Can I have a table set up with appetizers at Isle of Palms beach? I am getting married on the beach and wanted to know if I can have a table set up with appetizers for afterwards.

How are the guidelines since COVID at this beach? We are hoping to plan a short getaway in May but don't want to get down there with 4 kids & disappoint them. I see in the reviews that the beaches are open but are we allowed to bring an umbrella, sit on the beach, etc? I saw a review at Sullivans Island stating they got a ticket for a chair. We have a toddler so he will definitely need some sun shielding & I don't want a big fat ticket. Lol.

Is there camping or rentals on folly beach?
Written August 27, 2019
There are plenty of hotel and condo options at Folly. I'm unsure if there is a state park nearby where there would be camping as I personally dont go to Folly as I prefer Isle of Palms. I do know there is a state park right on the beach at Edisto Island, which is just a bit further south but a quiet, shabby chic option where mostly families vacation. I'm just not quite as familiar with Folly. Maybe Google search for "camping near Folly Beach" for more options.... good luck!

Hi, could you please give us info on the distance to recommended restaurants from the newly open park area? Thanks!

I agree with Curtis C, Shem Creek is awesome... Pages Okra Grill is fantastic! Huge menu and very affordable. There is a decent restaurant overlooking the backwater at Isle of Palms marina.

How far is the Park from Palm Blvd? is it within walking distance?
Written May 25, 2017
Yes, it is the main road you turn off of to get to the Isle of Palms County Park's parking lot, so it is just a minute or two walk back up the street (14th St.).
