The Davis Family (6 of us) went fishing with Capt Jim on 28 July. We started fishing in the morning for Speckled Trout and Reds and did very well. We took a break and walked onto Capers Island where Capt Jim imparted some of his knowledge to us, had lunch, and took pictures. We then capped off the exceptional day with more fishing, this time with my daughter catching a large Ray - all she could handle. Our son, not to be outdone, pulled in a 7.5 foot, 250lb Lemon Shark. Both were released quickly. We had a great time and will do this again in next time we visit.

Had a great time with Capt. Jim out on the water with my family. He was very patient with us novice fishermen and very knowledgeable about the local area of which we were visiting. We caught several fish and had 4 sharks on our lines and after quite a while trying to reel them in, the sharks survived our attempts and lived to get caught by someone else.

When I contacted Capt. Jim I had 2 simple requests: 1) Make it a memorable day fishing with my kids and 2) put us on some Redfish. Not only did we catch Redfish, but we made memories that will last a lifetime. If you are in the Isle of Palms/Charleston area, I highly recommend that you book a trip with Capt. Jim. You won't be disappointed.

I can’t recommend Captain Jim Hutson enough. He’s super kind, nice, knowledgeable and fantastic with kids.
I had the pleasure of doing a charter with him and my two kids (ages 9 and 11). Jim was a great teacher in helping them learn how to fish in the ocean. We caught 30 fish in two hours and my kids are still in awe.
I learned Jim is a local and his family goes back 8 generations in the Charleston area.
If you’re looking for a private, fun and safe fishing charter, definitely book one with Jim.

Wow, we just had the best fishing day ever. Captain Jim was super friendly and so helpful. Perfect for a family with no experience. That was us. The 5 of us caught at least 25 fish. So much fun.

Five adults including my wife & me had a 2-hour Waterways Cruise with Cap’n Jim Tuesday May 18. We cruised Morgan’s Creek in his 24 foot boat, set out a crab trap & then on to Capers Island, a Nature Preserve. We saw dolphin, mullet, heron, egret & a bald eagle. The weather was perfect & Cap’n was a wonderful host & guide. Capers Island is a must see. We were so impressed with Cap’n Jim we booked a fishing trip for next week. I enthusiastically recommend Cap’n Jim & his Explore More Inshore Charters.

We had an awesome charter fishing experience today with Captain Jim. Jim was professional, experienced, patient, and knowledgeable. I was blessed with a Father's Day fishing charter gift from my kids and we spent the morning catching, Spotted ocean trout, Blues, and sharks, We highly recommend Captain Jim. You won't be disappointed.

What can I say for 4 years our family has been visiting Charleston hooked up with Capt Jim first year and he is like family!
We have had groups of 6 or just myself and every trip is awesome. We have fished wreck s and inland small creeks always catch fish. He is a true Captain he enjoys the trip as much as we do, which makes everyone excited. My family loves him he knows everything about the low country and shares his knowledge about growing up on the waters. We have caught everything from sharks to reds and everything in between.
Our last trip we were in small boat fishing oyster beds in creeks for Reds what an awesome experience I’m still excited and it’s been over a week ago, that says it all..oh and eating fresh raw oysters out of creek the best!
If you want a Fantastic fishing experience call Captain Jim Hutson I guarantee you will be satisfied Thank you my friend!

Easy to book, Jim got back to me within a few hours. I took my kids, 9 and 15, and we all had a blast! Jim is really laid back, found us several good places to fish and was unfailingly patient and helpful. We were pulling lots of fish out, super exciting. Both kids enjoyed the trip immensely. (And no one missed their screens!) Would definitely do again and highly recommend Capt Jim for a fun fishing experience.

An absolute outstanding time!! Captain Jim made us feel so at ease. It took no time to get to our destination and even less time to land our first shark!! Thank you Captain Jim. This was the highlight of our trip!!
