This beach is not as crowded as other beaches, but there is nothing close by for eating or shopping. If you want a day at this beach, make sure you stop at the bathrooms in the parking lot before you hit the beach and make sure you take any food or beverages that you need for the duration of your stay. I enjoyed sitting under the umbrella on the chairs provided on the beach; however, the rental rate was $27 for a half day. My husband did have a fun day walking the beach and getting into the ocean. You could say this beach is more on the "roughing it" side of beach. On the positive side, there is a matted walkway down to the beach area which makes access easier.

We biked 2.5 miles from Sheltered Cove and were not disappointed when we arrived on beach. Big sweeping beach that you can run, hike or bike. many people but not crowded for Covid purposes. It is great to see people out again and enjoying God's beauty!

On the day we went, there were no visible sea shells-I like to walk along the beach looking for shells. Instead I walked and my husband ran among the beach. It was beautiful and not crowded at all. No commercialism, just a beautiful place.

We parked at Chaplain Park and took a morning walk from here. Not a lot of parking, but if you get there early enough there would be some spots. Bathrooms are clean and nice. The walk was pleasant and a nice change of pace from Coligny and Fish Haul. I will return here.

We went both here and to Folly Field Beach to avoid the crowds at Coligny, and this was our favorite! Plenty of space, clean sand, beautiful views... it was the perfect place to just sit down on a beach chair under and umbrella (which they actually have set up permanently on the beach for your free use here) and enjoy a good book, sun bathe, or swim. Despite online and travel book warnings that this beach had no lifeguards and was swim at your own risk, we actually found a lifeguard on patrol with a station right at the entrance to the beach. Just a heads up that this beach isn't as easy to walk out to because, unlike the bigger beaches, there is no walkway runner or boardwalk- it's a bike of a hike out (and a little uphill) on sand, so you're going to give your legs a good workout!

Great to look at ,but you have to trek so far with the kids and your stuff . It's just not worth it.

Driving around to find beach areas that weren't so overcrowded and came across this place and LOVED it. Lifeguard on duty and about a dozen chairs for rent with trash and recycle cans. There are meters for parking or free parking just a couple of hundred yards away with clean restrooms and outside shower & footwash. There is also a outside shower/foot wash at the end of Burke's Beach Road. The path is loose sand to the beach and proves to be a bit of a journey, maybe a 1/4 mile or less, but it is really worth it if wanting to avoid the larger more crowded beaches. Of course being off the beaten path there are no food services available and the bathrooms are a travel back to get back to. So pleased with this beach we visited it 3 times during vacation.

We got there on low tide, which made the beach very wide. Even though they allow dogs off-leash most owners had them leashed. Negative was pollution. Waves were spitting foam on the beach; perhaps some detergent spill. We kept her out of the water because of that. We still enjoyed the walk since weather was warm for January (70F) and it was sunny with scattered clouds.

If you are in this part of the island this is a great beach to try. Lots of room to be away from others and lots of beach to explore.

We're renting a a house on Burkes beach and I'm wondering if there are any beach bars/restaurants within walking distance. I see some establishments on the beach but they seem to be for resort guests et. and not open to the public. Thanks in advance!

No restaurants or beach bars that I can recall. HHI is not really a beach bar kind of place.

Yes. In season (Memorial to Labor Day) they have leash restrictions. Off leash in the off season! (They have to be under positive voice control)

How do you pay for parking and does it take debit card or cash
Written June 23, 2017
I don't remember paying to park. If you park inside the park I don't think you have to pay, but if you park up by the sand near the walkway to the beach, I think there are meters, but I don't know if they take cash or debit.
