Arthur Hills took full advantage of the Lowcountry's dramatic coastal beauty when he designed this award-winning course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort located on Hilton Head Island. Tucked within the serene enclave of Leamington, this shot-maker's favorite offers continuous lines of dunes, a rolling layout, numerous water hazards and thick stands of palmettos. This course emphasizes accuracy and precision over distance, providing formidable challenges at every turn.

Great folks. Course is worn out

Loved how we were treated but some of the greens and much of the rough needed some attention. Maybe it's the time of year. Front is very forgiving but the back can eat your lunch... read more

No one warned us until we arrived at the course that it was having trouble with its greens. They blamed it on the weather -- too cold then too hot right at the transition season. Regardless its very disappointing to spend a lot of money on vacation and find these conditions. Wish I had read other reviews before booking this.... More

I planned to wait until I got home until I wrote this review but my good conscience compelled me to go ahead and review on my phone in hopes of saving anyone else from wasting their money at the Palmetto Dunes Arthur Hills golf course. Firstly, I will say the only good thing I can say and that is that... More

Found Arthur Hills course to be more player friendly than Robert Trent Jones course. Fewer sand traps so not quite as frustrating.

Two foursomes played on a beautiful day. Course was busier because Fazio course closed for spring aeration. Course conditions were very good. Greens true. Tees and fairways good. Water, plenty of sand and good tree placement to make shot position important. Staff were great. All round, a great day. Pricey - we noted about a 25% price increase over last... More

Although this is a far nicer course than the Fazio it is more difficult. The dunes divide the fairways but mean that one may be hitting from uneven stances. Then there is the water. There are several holes where crossing the water seems longer than what it actually is. The elevated greens were quite quick. There is a driving range... More

Of the three courses I played on a golf trips with friends, I enjoyed the Arthur Hills Course the most. Some golfers will not like all the water hazards but I found the water hazards fair for the average golfers and they add interest to the flat courses in Hilton Head.

Played Trent Jones Course Thurs and Arthur Hills Mon. Both badly managed tee times. Rushed off and waited too long between holes (both courses). Jones at least had gps on carts for yardage. A Hills had nothing. No on -course markers besides the yellow striped poles 150mk? Used many diff clubs at this confusing marker. Scorecard only had green pics... More

A great course .... with some course management you have an opportunity to score well. During the morning play early morning .... One of the better courses on Hilton Head.

Hills is one of three 18 hole tracks in Palmetto Dunes. Hills is the course that has had dirt pushed around more than the other two, the mounding looks un-natural but it's a great thing. The mounds define the edges of the fairways very well on some holes and present excellent approach shot challenges on other holes. Lots of alligators... More
