Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head

132 reviews
Remote Daufuskie Island is accessible only by boat and remains largely undeveloped, despite its fame as the setting of Pat Conroy’s novel “The Water is Wide.” A guided tour makes the trip a cinch—this package includes round-trip ferry tickets, plus transportation between island attractions such as the First African Baptist Church and Mary Fields School, all visited with the benefit of commentary from your guide.

So this Lighthouse is very quaint and cozy. As you proceed to walk up the stairs each section gives you a little history lesson. You can also flatten out pennies with the lighthouse pressed on them or use the photo booth. When you reach the top there is a terrific 360 degree view and a small but cozy souvenir shop aswell. A small bit of warning this particular Lighthouse does not have an elevator so you do have to walk up stairs.

The light house has a five dollar entry fee and it is worth it. The view is very nice at the top. Along the stairs on the way up they display many things to read and look at. A nice thirty minute distraction.
