Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head with Ferry Transportation

114 reviews
Remote Daufuskie Island is accessible only by boat and remains largely undeveloped, despite its fame as the setting of Pat Conroy’s novel “The Water is Wide.” A guided tour makes the trip a cinch—this package includes round-trip ferry tickets, plus transportation between island attractions such as the First African Baptist Church and Mary Fields School, all visited with the benefit of commentary from your guide.

Very professional coaching staff has us returning annually, three years running now. Weekend doubles clinics are appropriate -- hit a LOT of tennis balls and get a little coaching and match play. If more coaching is desired, you'll need to pay for private or semi-private lessons with Steve, Scott, Hannah, Tim, or Mark. Stroke of the Day (more individual instruction) and Live Ball clinics (stroke repetition) are also available. Complimentary video instruction, snacks, finger food, adult and non-alcoholic beverages, and a CD full of instructive tennis files are great bonuses...! Competitive prices with payment options. Definitely recommend.

Recently spent five amazing day as the Van Der Meer Tennis Center as part of the Southern Tennis Escape tennis tournament. Can't talk more highly about the Van Der Meer facilities and staff. Exceptional tennis experience across the board! The courts were in amazing shape and the Tennis Pros and Pro Shop staff couldn't have been better. The tennis court layout is very inviting as they have so many courts available, but they aren't stacked on top of each other. I will definitely return next year.....or hopefully sooner!

We were in Hilton Head and since we are avid tennis players we decided to participate in the clinics. The serve clinic was only $20 and Luis was very nice and helpful. Definitely worth it! The intermediate drills was $37 and also with Luis. He is a nice man, very chatty but knowledgeable. It was nice to be able to divide the groups into levels. It was a nice workout and really fun. Well groomed har tru courts. Staff was friendly. I wish we could go back but there is not enough time :( I would definitely recommend!

Used a friend's timeshare in the PortOCall community along with a few other tennis friends. We got 1 free hour of tennis each day of our stay (along with a round of golf for 4 people - though had to pay $35 each for cart so we didn't do that since we aren't golfers). Played on clay courts. Was there 2/20-29/2020 - off-season, a bit cooler than expected at this time of year. Appreciated the lack of crowds both playing tennis and doing other things. Most bike-friendly place I've ever seen - both on the very wide, flat, and hard beach and on the plentiful bike paths all over the island. Rented bikes (numerous companies offer this) rather than bring along our own - glad of that as sand in the gears is probably not for the best. We are all seniors, but enjoyed the tennis.

Every year we come down, we book 3 days of lessons - then we practice the rest of he day for tomorrow's lesson. The instruction and techniques are awesome.
