Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head with Ferry Transportation

116 reviews
Remote Daufuskie Island is accessible only by boat and remains largely undeveloped, despite its fame as the setting of Pat Conroy’s novel “The Water is Wide.” A guided tour makes the trip a cinch—this package includes round-trip ferry tickets, plus transportation between island attractions such as the First African Baptist Church and Mary Fields School, all visited with the benefit of commentary from your guide.

My friends and I had an amazing day yesterday at Fazio. Things got teed off right at the clubhouse with Chris who was extremely polite, informative and helpful! After a great round with just a touch of rain we were promptly met and taken care of, with clubs cleaned and delivered to our cars. Next time we all get back together, I know where we’ll be playing.

Played twice and enjoyed both rounds. First impression, the guys meet and greet you and take your bag to the carts... Everyone seems happy to see you at their venue. The Palmetto courses offer military, including retired military, a 40% discount, if you book one day ahead, so I took advantage of that opportunity. We had a lot of rain but this course drains amazingly so it was in excellent shape except for some standing water on the cart paths. Carts were GPS equipped, had spots to charge your phone and had bluetooth for music, if you wish. Water comes into play on five holes with three that require carrying the water including a par three on 17, that requires about 150 to carry. Greens were in excellent shape and rolled true, but slow due to the recent rain. All but a few of the 40 or so bunkers were in great shape. Red tailed hawks, gators, egrets and herons were easily seen throughout the course. Some holes on the course are lined by homes but they only come into play if you really shank the ball. Bottom line, play this course... it's fun, fair, a good value and the staff seems to love what they do. There are numerous ways to get a discount, and if you do, use some of that savings to take care of the staff. Small clubhouse, but both mornings the breakfast sandwich was tasty and a quick turnaround and nice relaxed area to sit outside if you wish, but no view of 9 or 18. OPPPS... if you REQUIRE a driving RANGE, they stop by either the arthurs hills or Trent jones course to warm up... they have a putting area and small warmup with fake golf balls here so that's a downer for some.

Fabulous course, great greens and beautiful scenery on waterway. Excellent shape and condition! Mick in the pro shop really went out of his way to accommodate my group. He even scheduled a shuttle to take us to the beach resort restaurant! Definitely coming back.
