Our second trip on the hook with captain Brian , Jay and team. All of them do a fantastic job.
You must know what this excursion is. It’s a scenic boat ride out to the fishing spots with some bottom fishing with all your fellow passengers. Some will catch some won’t, lines will tangle , some big some small etc. then you head back. Half traveling half fishing.
The crew does an amazing job keeping everybody fishing and cleaning your fish when you get back. Note this is not a high end fishing charter so don’t expect one. What it is , is a great way to spend a vacation day , do a little fishing, see some ocean scenery and have a great time on a very clean and well run boat. The galley has some decent snacks and drinks at reasonable prices.
I will be doing at least one of these every trip to Hh. You just never know what you’ll catch. And the price for the tour cannot be beat.
J or jay the first mate does an amazing job and is great with kids who ask lots of questions. I have had 2 great experiences so far and will keep coming back.
The following day I did an actual fish charter and that’s what you need to do and pay for if just fishing is your game.
That’s not to say you may actually catch something decent.
I would highly recommend doing this with your family before you pony up for a dedicated charter

Great experience! I have fished on many of these types of boats (large public groups) and the Capt. Hook was much better than all the rest. I went on the morning 5.5 hour trip and then the evening shark trip the same day. On both trips the Captain and crew were excellent! The boat did not feel crowded at all which kind of shocked me. They provided several great extras like hand towels to clean the yuck off your hands, ice cold neck wraps to beat the heat, excellent training on equipment usage, and deckhands that were very attentive to every need without being asked in many cases for everyone old and young alike. I look forward to going on this boat in the near future and highly recommend it for anyone wanting a nice affordable fun excursion. Thank you Captain & crew!

Went on the 5.5 fishing charter on a beautiful 80 degree day with very calm seas. The Captain and crew were very friendly and accommodating to make our fishing experience fun. The fish were biting (some were too big or small to keep) . They provided plenty of squid and shrimp for bait. The Wheatfish were reeling in. I only caught 1 keeper but enjoyed the fishing. The boat is comfortable with his and her bathrooms, a cabin to keep your bags and coolers in and a galley with food, snacks and beverages for sale. When we go back to the dock the crew cleaned and filleted our fish. The Captain pulled out a Mackerel out of his cooler and cut it up and shared with us and other fisherman. Cooked up the Whitefish and Mackerel in some fish fry cornmeal and it was delicious.
If you are looking to go out on a boat around Hilton Head to see the area, skip the dolphin tours and try this fishing boat which is a much better value and maybe you will go home with some fish. I will return soon to fish again on the Capt. Hook.

Took 3 of my boys on the 5.5hr trip. We spent over half of the 5.5hrs trolling out to open water. It was pretty crowded on the boat and after moving around to 3-4 different spots to fish with no luck, we trolled back to the dock. I could sense the frustration of others on the boat because nobody was even getting any bites. I likely could have used the same piece of shrimp bait for the 1.5 hours of fishing we did. To my knowledge there were only 2 people on the entire boat that caught anything worth saving and even those were only 7-8 inch skiny whiting. The crew was pleasant and helpful and even though this "boat ride" wasn't very expensive, I wish the advertising was more accurate in it's description. This really is mainly a boating excursion with some fishing poles.

We took a party of 9 on the shark fishing trip and everyone had a great experience. Almost everyone caught one shark and several caught more. Everyone had hits, just some of us couldn’t get one on the hook. The Captain and the mates did an excellent job of working with us to catch fish, they particularly paid attention to the kids and helped them with their bait and technique. The trip is a smooth trip through the inland marsh areas, no seasickness, and it takes about 40 min each way to the fishing grounds. You have plenty of time to fish and some beautiful views of the marshland. Kids over 6 should have a great time and the excitement of catching a real shark. Lots of good photo ops.
good boat, good crew, great trip

We did the evening party boat and honestly the entire trip was well done. The crew from the captain to his mates are genuinely kind and caring. They help take the sharks and rays off the hooks and let you hold the sharks (not rays) for a pic before throwing back. Some people caught 3-6 sharks. Some caught none. The crew really made extra efforts to get those who had less luck a shark but fishing is fickle. With 30-40 pieces of bait in the water, it’s random who gets a bite and who just gets their line tangled. I was very impressed by one of the “mates” who made extra effort to get two kids a shark (no luck, but he was trying so hard).
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of COVID precautions taken. Despite being outside, the boat gets crowded and tough to maintain 6 feet distance. There was a sign encouraging optional masks but no one (passengers or crew) wore one.
This is a 5 star fantastic trip during “normal times”.

Drove in for the party fishing boat. We were greeted by Capt. Brian himself and he explained the lay of the land. The Capt. and crew were great. Anything you needed, they were there for. We saw sharks(large ones) swim by as well as sea turtles and jelly fish. We caught 33 fish of which we kept 8. We had a great day. Met a lot of nice folks. I would recommend this to anyone who likes this sort of thing. If you want to catch and keep a ton of fish, this isn’t for you, pay the big bucks and take your chances. If you want to have a good time, this is your place! Thanks Guys for a great day!!!

We have previously done private charters off of Cape Cod but since only 2 of us wanted to go fishing this trip it made more sense to do the party fishing approach. We had a blast catching several different types of sharks and my son even got to hold a hammer head. Even the baby shark was fun to real in and we saw a dolphin on the ride in.

The captain and crew were knowledgeable, kind and fun. The whole crew is fabulous. They were knowledgeable about the area — in addition to making sure we all had bait and were well prepared to fish. The ride out and back was great too — yes, it’s takes a little while to get to the fishing spot, but that is cool too — and the crew worked the whole time setting things up and organized so we were ready to go once the anchors dropped. Lots of teens and preteens on board for our trip, perfect outing for that age group (I know our boys loved it). We had a little extra excitement — as there were a couple more experienced fishermen on our boat …. And one caught a shark! We didn’t quite get it in the boat … but that’s a story for another day….

Had a great time with Captain Tyler! We had 3 in our party and decided we absolutely had to go shark fishing. We caught 4 sharks & 2 stingrays and enjoyed a very beautiful sunset to finish the evening. My only complaint (and not the Captain's fault!) is that we weren't able to catch "the big one" that would have been a keeper.

What is the cost o a private boat and guide

The 9:00am trip is the one labeled on location as wreck fishing. We had an amazing time and caught a lot of fish. All of ours were tossed back, as we were just there to catch and not save to eat. The crew was absolutely awesome. When the bites died down, they moved the boat and the bites picked right back up. Never stingy on bait, always at the ready with more.

What is a nearby sleeping accommodation for 1, for 4 nights, not weekend, modestly priced, near a restaurant that will cook my catch?

Red Roof Inn is very close to boat and probably one of the most affordable places on the island to stay. I also suggest Park Lane Hotel it is also very close to boat. I recommend scott's fish market for cooking your catch. I think it's around $16.00 to cook your catch, it includes all the sides too!
