We did the guided tour on the cat boat, which is an open, tandem, side-by-side style boat with a small motor, reaching up to 30mph; great for navigating the channels of the area, as well as the open water. We had a great time with Capt Nick. Very laid back guy and very knowledgeable on the area. Not only is he a Hilton Head Island local, but he’s also a coast guard certified captain. He gave us insight to some local history of the barrier islands, and even some folklore. He did a great job commanding our fleet, albeit small, he made sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. Occasional stops to relay some info regarding what was ahead. He made sure everyone was together as a unit and having fun. He was constantly checking back and giving hand signals to make sure everyone was unified. We had a blast. It was a different experience for us, as we’ve only gone jet skiing before (twice solo adventures & twice guided). The cat boat takes maybe 10-15 minutes to get used to the controls but afterwards it’s smooth sailing. Guided tours can sometimes be bland, but Capt Nick really made the adventure an experience. Awesome stuff. We’d highly recommend not only the cat boat guided tour, but if you have the option, request Capt Nick. Great time.

What a fun way to end our trip to South Carolina! Nick was a fantastic guide and made it super easy to learn and we actually got going early once we were there. He gave us lots of great insight on the area (it's awesome that he's also a school teacher).
I definitely recommend calling the phone number for a reservation as the website(s) may say things are full, but that might be false or misleading. SO glad I called to check since he had openings for the sunset excursion. I could tell when we cruised past other tour boats and docks that people were jealous watching us. Highly recommend!

10 of us participated in the 2.5 Hour Hilton Head Guided Boat Tour (creek cat 2 seater boats). EVERYONE from ages 10-73 enjoyed this trip and had so much fun! I would highly suggest taking the early morning tour before it gets too hot and before the water gets too choppy. We saw many dolphins but our favorite was being able to go fast through the water. Great time was had by all!!

The Cat Boat adventure with Captain Nicklaus was sooo much fun. This is our second adventure and was a must do again this year. The weather was windy and Captain Nicklaus skillfully navigated us through the calmest waters as possible and we even made it across Calabogie sound to view some of the Heritage Classic from the water. Amazing tour and a must do next time!

We had seen these small boats when they were on tour during previous annual visits to HHI and decided it was time to give them a try and we were so happy we did! After reading other reviews, we chose Bluewater Adventure and were lucky enough to be paired with Captain Nick for our experience. Nick was Knowles able about the waterways after growing up on the island, ensure our safety was top of mind thru our tour. He shared history of the area we had not been aware of yet, made sure we were comfortable at each stop along the trip and catered our ride to our experience level. We would absolutely recommend Bluewater Adventure and encourage you to spend 2.5 hrs with Captain Nick on the water. We will again on our next trip south!

My husband and I were traveling with another couple and all really enjoyed our Catamaran Tour with Nick. He made sure everyone was comfortable with navigating the boats and adjusted his speed and the tour based on that. He was very knowledgeable, sharing interesting bits about Hilton Head Island and the surrounding area. We have previously done regular boat tours, kayak tours and jet ski tours. It was fun to do something different and my husband had a great time driving. Highly recommend.

We had a great time and our 16 year old said this adventure was the highlight of the trip. A couple of us saw dolphin fins, but that was the only sighting. Even without the dolphin interaction, the boats were loads of fun. Our guide was Matt and he provided some interesting information regarding the island’s history. We would definitely recommend this activity, they teach you how to use the boats so no experience is needed.

My daughter and I did the 2.5 hour cat tour and I highly recommend it if you’re a bit adventurous. If you’re not used to driving a boat, be prepared to go fast and have fun! I’ve never driven a boat but caught on quickly and it was so much fun we could have done it every single day!!! We flew through the salt marshes and between the surrounding islands. Nick was an excellent captain and tour guide and we were in good hands. He was friendly and encouraging. He gave us excellent history of the areas around Hilton Head. During the ride you’ll get a bit wet so wear clothes that dry fast and apply a good amount of sunscreen. Don’t bring much with you, you won’t need anything but a camera (waterproof) and a water bottle. You’ll have to tie them down, there’s just a little area of storage. Just bring yourself and an empty bladder! (But the water’s warm just in case…)

We took the morning Creek Cat tour with Sam. It was such a fun adventure! The water was a little choppy, but that made the ride all the more exciting. We traveled all the way from Shelter Cove Marina to Harbor Town. We saw dolphins and a lot of wild life. Sam was very informative about the area and did a great job in insturcting the group about the operation of the mini cats and keeping us all together. This tour is not for the faint of heart, but if you want a little adventure, this is the tour for you!

These little Craig Cat catamarans are fast but very stable. Captain Matt did a great job explaining the area and the history. He pointed out a lot of marine life and told us interesting facts that we didn't know about them. He is very knowledgeable and easy to listen/talk to. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a great time on the water with Captain Matt.
It's a little on the pricy side, but don't let that keep you from doing it. Where else can you drive one of these and see wildlife and multi-million dollar homes at the same time?!
I highly recommend this tour. But only go with Bluewater Adventure (they are the highest rated for a reason)!!

Hi! We are a family of 5 visiting HHI the first week in August. We have 3 kids 13, 11 and 5. Is there anyway we could participate if we don't have enough drivers? Could our oldest ride with the tour guide?
