Pinckney Island is an easily-accessible (and free!) destination adjacent to Hilton Head. The wildlife preserve offers a refreshing marshland in contrast to the highly-developed region. As a major stopping point on the north-south flyway and a key nesting ground, it's a great place to view...More

The trail is easy, very cool coastal habitat, lots of wildlife, bird rookeries everywhere, gators everywhere. The trail was tough on our bikes, very rough, not a street bike or cruiser trail.

Didn't do the whole trail. Bike would be a great idea. If looking for gators go to a golf course. But the rookery was full of birds of all types.

This was an amazing experience to see so many water birds nesting on the island in Ibis pond 1.5 miles round trip from parking lot. Bring water. Mid April is the time to see this.

Amazing for wildlife. Saw many varieties of birds, heron, egrets. Also alligators everywhere. Beautiful drive. Took about 2 hours to go 2 miles. Each station has a blue tooth that runs through the car radio. Worth the time.

Yes, and I recommend it, because it is a long, long way to and from the parking area across the island. You could potentially cover several MILES. Just be aware that the access road is loose gravel. It's easy to pedal a bike... More

Absolutely. I would recommend bringing your bike. It's a gravel/dirt path/road that is not hard at all to bike on.
