Took the family fishing for the day knowing that you cannot control what bites but still better than not fishing. Captain seemed annoyed at having kids on his boat even though they were experience fishermen. First stop was nothing, second stop we anchored up and sat there for the 2 hours not willing to switch spots when only small sharks were biting. Asked again about moving as the tide had shifted and just said “alright we’ll cut the trip short, we’re heading back to the dock”. Seemed he would rather be at the dock then fish. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Mistaken identity....I'm Captain Joe Smith owner of Tale Hunter Hilton Head Fishing Charters. There is more than one fishing charter in Hilton Head with the name Hilton Head Fishing Charters. What distinguishes our businesses from the competition is the tag line. Mine is Tale Hunter. Since running my business as a Captain I have never retuned back to the dock with guests on board unless the weather was getting bad or a guest was getting ill. There's a reason why it's called fishing, not catching. Any person who returns clients back to the dock because the fishing is poor doesn't understand the profession. My three children who I adore with all my heart are now in their 20's. Every time I get a young family on board I look back fondly to the days when I used to take my kids fishing, it's one reason why I promote my charter as family friendly. BTW....June 21st, 22nd and 23rd I was 800 miles away in NJ at a graduation for my son. My boat was not in the water on those dates. Please look back at your emailed confirmation to clarify what boat you were on and rectify this with trip advisor. I'm sorry that this happened to you but I do know if you were on my boat, this would not have occurred.

Just did a 6 hour charter on tailhunter with capt. Zack, well worth it. This is the second time we’ve been out with capt. zack and he always puts us on the fish. It was a hot day and the water temp was around 84, which is not ideal for offshore fishing. We went about 11 miles out to the artificial reef.. started slow but we got on the mackerel (king and Spanish) and it was awesome. Look forward to going again, would recommend capt. Zack.

Excellent communication from Shayne Smith and Capt. Zack before our trip. Extremely eager to answer all questions and concerns prior to us getting out on the boat. Very fair price for the memories we made that day! Capt. Zack was PHENOMENAL! When I booked the charter, there was no forecast of foul weather for the day. As luck would have it, scattered thunderstorms were out and about all along the Hilton Head coast. Capt. Zack expertly zigged and zagged us between storms and put us on some great fish! Me, my wife and 14 y/o daughter Bethany had a blast pulling in nice Spanish mackerel, occasional blue fish, 1 shark and some fun to catch lady fish! The time we had was so awesome I wanted to book an additional 2 hours on the boat, but alas, the Capt. had another party waiting for him at the dock. If you think you want to do 4 hrs, BOOK 6 hrs!!!!! 2 THUMBS up for Capt Zack and Shayne Smith. Will absolutely book again!!!!

My boyfriend scheduled a tour with TailHunters during our stay in May. Captain Rick was absolutely amazing. You could tell that he was so passionate and had years of knowledge and experience. He made it fun, yet very educational. I learned stuff that I never knew. He told us about the clams, Pickney Refugee Life Center, Bald Eagles, Dolphins, etc. You name it, he knew about it. I also really appreciated that when we saw something that was of interest to us, he would turn the boat around so that we could get a better look at it. I cannot thank him enough for our wonderful experience. We will always ask for Captain Rick when we come to Hilton Head for our boat tour. His customer service was excellent. He went above and beyond with making our experience a pleasurable one and I truly appreciate that!
