I enjoy a leisurely bike ride but find it harder and harder to escape the car controlled streets. At 74 years old , I can still bike but I'm not as comfortable as I used to be going head to head with a 2 ton truck or car. This trail follows an old railroad that runs from the heart of... More

Great paved trail for bikers, runner, walkers, rollerbladers, etc. Great restaurants on the trail in Greenville, Travelers Rest, and in between. Nice way to see parts of Furman's campus as well. Good for locals or travelers who want to rent bikes and explore.

Great trail for leisurely flat rides. Slight uphill grade Greenville to Travellers Rest - if this direction, return to end of ride gets you mostly downhill easier. Cautions: watch out for rough surfaces from tree roots and don't leave home without your helmet - it was a life saver for me and can be for you!

I use this trail regularly for biking and running. It has some areas that are rough and need attention but otherwise is very well kept up and patrolled regularly You can easily run from Greenville to Travelers Rest and Furman University is about half way. Plenty of places to stop and rest along the way if needed.

.....for you don't have to spend the day or walk miles till you drop, just spend sometime walking to get a feel for this part of the country! And yes, Virginia, there is such an animal as a swamp rabbit!

This is a wonderful, paved trail from downtown Greenville up past Traveler's Rest. I take my Boy Scout Troop walking on it to complete easy hikes. We like to start in downtown Greenville and walk the ten miles to TR, eat at the Whistlestop cafe, then head back. At times we stop on the Furman University campus to picnic and... More

We took a walk on part of the trial around downtown and it was so nice. The scenery was beautiful and a great place for walking, running, or biking, which we saw many people doing. There are plenty of benches and little areas with educational signs. Next time we will definitely have to walk the entire thing.

Free parking on either end, in Greenville at County Sqaure or in Traveler's Rest. Fun restaurants to stop for lunch in both places. Bike shop along the way will help out if you run into problems. Grocery stop. Fun morning or afternoon. Detour into Furman campus is lovely.

We love to rent bicycles and bike the trail up to Traveler's Rest and eat at the Williams hardware store cafe. Be sure to stop for a break at the Furman lake.
