A small museum packed with many Civil War artifacts not seen in larger venues. Their hand gun and rifle collection is extensive and has many unique pieces. My favorite piece is a Henry Derringer pistol like the one Booth used to kill President Lincoln. Amazing how small it is. My wife enjoyed the museum as well and she is not... More

Very interesting stuff to look at and ready all about. If someone hadn't drug me out for lunch I might still be there reading everything. Need a second visit. Such interesting things about the area.

An interesting little museum with very knowledgable employees. We spent about 1.5 hours here looking at the exhibits and asking the employees questions about the confederate armies role in the civil war. I don't know much American history, so this was a very interesting place for me to visit. The exhibits are well maintained and varied.

Incredible amount of artifacts. Knowledgeable volunteer staff. Easy to find. Not much parking. If you are in the area, a must visit. Spent over 90 minutes in the museum.

While in Greenville recently, we found this in a magazine at the hotel and decided to check it out since our 6 year old son is obsessed with wars and "soldiers". This museum is located in a house and it didn't look like much from the outside, but once we got inside, I was surprised at the amount of stuff... More

The Museum and Library of Confederate History is a real gem. It has an amazing collection of Civil War artifacts, including swords, guns, medical items, currency, veterans' items, accoutrements and civilian items. Some of the artifacts are very rare. As the name suggests, there is a particular emphasis on the Confederacy. The artifacts are presented in an appealing "old school"... More

This was a fun and fascinating hour. Only open on Saturdays 10-3. A very kindly gentlemen showed us around answered questions and made us feel at home. Great collection of firearms, uniforms, and other relics of the old south and time period. The prosthetics made the grisly nature of this and other wars hit home. Take the literature with a... More

The museum is in an old house and is stuffed with confederate artifacts. The volunteers who man the museum are ardent supporters of the confederacy and many are reenactors. Very nice men, but strong in their beliefs. Interesting to hear their point of view and you may not agree with them hearing their interpretation of the events but they give... More

Open on a Monday and staffed by a small but knowledgeable and friendly staff. As its name implies it presents the Southern side of the war but in a balanced perspective. Divided into focused segments and filled with artifacts. I found they also provide tours for schools and home school students on their normal closed days. Very friendly atmosphere.

This place was very informative and had a lot of interesting relics, but smelled very musty. I felt like the attendant was a little too anxious to tell us everything he knew about everything. He had some interesting tid-bits but I would have preferred to explore by myself and then hear a couple stories.
