This was a fun and fascinating hour. Only open on Saturdays 10-3. A very kindly gentlemen showed us around answered questions and made us feel at home. Great collection of firearms, uniforms, and other relics of the old south and time period. The prosthetics made the grisly nature of this and other wars hit home. Take the literature with a... More

The museum is in an old house and is stuffed with confederate artifacts. The volunteers who man the museum are ardent supporters of the confederacy and many are reenactors. Very nice men, but strong in their beliefs. Interesting to hear their point of view and you may not agree with them hearing their interpretation of the events but they give... More

Open on a Monday and staffed by a small but knowledgeable and friendly staff. As its name implies it presents the Southern side of the war but in a balanced perspective. Divided into focused segments and filled with artifacts. I found they also provide tours for schools and home school students on their normal closed days. Very friendly atmosphere.

This place was very informative and had a lot of interesting relics, but smelled very musty. I felt like the attendant was a little too anxious to tell us everything he knew about everything. He had some interesting tid-bits but I would have preferred to explore by myself and then hear a couple stories.

This museum in downtown Greenville is well stocked with artifacts from the Civil War. Our volunteer brought the war to life with his knowledge of articles in the museum and historical events during, and after, the war. We were so happy to have taken the time to stop in!

Traveling with grandkids, this was our choice for the morning activity. The museum is the right size for everyone, with just enough to see, read, and question. Our volunteer was very helpful and kind, filling in the gaps. Gift shop is limited and a bit biased but, it is fun to be in their shoes for a change.

This was a nice collection of civil war memorabilia, but the best thing were the volunteers. They offer a lot of knowledge on the war as well as the items listed in the collection. One volunteer noticed me with the kids and pulled out a musket and revolver used during the war to hold and pose with. He gave the... More

I cannot recommend a visit to this place enough. All the volunteers here are incredibly knowledgeable and even more hospitable. We were travelling a fair distance to visit during our honeymoon so were uncertain as to what time we would arrived... not a problem we were told. We turned up on time but ended up staying after hours as the... More

We were very impressed with the kind and knowledgable volunteers at the museum. Yes there is tension over the confederate flag, however this museum is a labor of love by people whose families have historical ties to the Civil War. Don't let modern politics cause you to miss out on a very interesting and free slice of history.

From the outside, this place looks small, but don't overlook this gem!! They have several awesome artifacts pertaining to the Civil War time period, period costume, weapons, etc. They also have a room full of CW era books and newspaper clippings. The people that give the tours really know and love their history and even patiently worked with an overexcited... More
