We spent a long weekend in Greenville, meeting friends there in early March. This small city is absolutely lovely! The city’s centerpiece is beautiful “Falls Park on the Reedy” featuring a waterfall and the Liberty Bridge, where we ambled along scenic walkways and riverside paths.
Reading the story about how the city had reclaimed the river and waterfall from its industrial/polluted past was very interesting. They’ve done a beautiful job!
There’s a wonderful bookstore near the park; be sure not to miss “M. Judson Booksellers and Storytellers”.

On a spur of the moment trip to Greenville, my friends and I decided to explore downtown. Liberty Bridge is a beautiful bridge with some amazing photography spots. The weekend we visited the area was very crowded and the bridge was no different. I'm not a big fan of heights and this bridge is pretty high - but what a beautiful view of the falls it provides for anyone who can take a deep breath and look down. Just a word of warning, since the bridge was crowded, it did shake just a little....a bit unnerving for folks like myself who prefer solid ground under their feet.

This was our first day trip to Greenville and thanks to Trip Advisor made this a must see stop. The city is lovely with tree lined street with many shops and restaurants. The highlight was a walk to see the falls from the suspension bridge. It is literally right in the heart of the city which makes it an easy walk after lunch. It was well worth the stop.

We were in Greenville, South Carolina for only a short time. Liberty Bridge and the Falls Park on the Reedy are must see attractions.

The Liberty Bridge is so cool. I was impressed how solid the bridge was and how much room it gave walkers. The bridge provides a wonderful view of the Falls Park on the Reedy as well as downtown Greenville.

Some interesting facts from the Greenville website:
"Chris Britton, structural division manager for Taylor and Murphy, describes the bridge as "an ultra lightweight bridge, which almost looks like it's floating on air."

At 345 feet long, 12 feet wide and 8 inches thick, the concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable.

While bridges with similar structural concepts have been built in Europe, this bridge is unique in its geometry and there is nothing like it in the United States."

This downtown Greenville area has a lot of nice restaurants, landscaping and open area.

There is parking available if you can find the lot. You have to go online to pay (which I would rather not have to do). We paid for an hour, but you can easily spend more time here.

This is well worth the trip.

The liberty bridge offers great views of the Falls below. As a parent safety is pretty paramount for me whenever I am out with the kids, and this bridge feels pretty safe with thick wire rails all along the sides of the bridge. It does seem like the very bottom of the rail, a small child might be able to sneak a leg through, so just be mindful while walking the bridge to keep a close eye. There's public bathrooms and plenty of restaurants nearby, but definitely take a walk on the bridge to grab a few shots of the falls.

We visited the Liberty Bridge on the weekend of my birthday in November. This is a great place to visit with many points of interest including the bridge. There are places to eat as well as the park below the bridge. A beautiful place to take a strole or grab a bite to eat. Wonderful memories made.

The bridge is an attraction in and of itself with a scenic view of the Falls. It will sway gently due to the design. Don't forget to read about the bridge and Falls history on the signs at the end of bridge.

The Liberty Bridge is a very special bridge over Falls River and Falls Park. It has been written up in lots of magazines and has won many awards for its structure. It's a great place to see the falls as well as the lovely park underneath. I always take my out of town guests to this famous bridge.
