A good tour to gain a good understanding of the rice that was the economic driver for almost 200 years. The tour gave an enormous amount of information to the town and surrounding area.

My second visit to this museum. A wealth of knowledge about the rice culture in SC explained by an excellent tour guide. Plan several hours to browse the museum and the gift shop. So much history to digest. Well worth your time.

We had a tremendous tour guide and a small 7 person group. Looks can be deceiving as was this case here. This was well worth the entry fee of $7 for seniors. Nice dioramas and a comfortable walking tour ending with a 15 minute movie...More

This museum has a tough job because the area's history is so steeped in slavery. I feel like they had to walk a careful line, not wanting to glorify the slave culture, but at the same time not wanting to hide it, or gloss it...More

This business is a foundation of Georgetown. It always has ongoing art exhibits and displays of local paintings. There are many interesting gifts, jewelry, pottery and southern items. Don't overlook the prints for sale in the bins. Very helpful staff too.

Outstanding tour, between two buildings. Shows folks how the rice was developed, the people that owned the land and the slaves who had to work the land and bring in the crop. When rice was king, before the Civil War, South Carolina was the 2nd...More
