This tour was money well spent. Cap'n Rod and his lovely bride Miss Fran were way too much fun. The 3 hour tour up the river was a great way to spend the morning. Beautiful plantations, bald eagles and an enormous amount of history imparted by Cap'n Rod a true Southern Gentleman. From the plantation era, though both the Revolutionary... More

Not just informative, but entertaining. Beautiful land and waterscapes, and plenty of time to walk the beach on North Island enjoying the day and searching for shells. A must do for anyone visiting the Low Country. My friends and I spent a wonderful 4 hours with Capt. Ron, learned a lot, and laughed a lot. Lots and lots of local... More

Every time my husband and I go to Myrtle Beach we make it a priority to take a trip down to Georgetown for Cap'n Rod's Lighthouse and Shell Island Tour. We've always enjoyed the "cruise" and head home with great pictures, interesting shells, unique driftwood and more often than not, multiple bald eagle sightings. Captain Doug is a "real character"!... More

Informative tour, worth every penny. Cap'n Rod is an easy going, affable fellow who shares lots of local history. The tour passes the USS Harvest Moon wreckage site, old rice fields and plantation sites. We saw a huge alligator in the bay. Your destination, North Island is peaceful and pristine. If you walk around the southern tip and cross the... More

The trip was awesome. The tour guide knew so much of the plantation history. Very Enjoyable trip. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in hearing about the history of the land.

I had initially set this tour up for another day and had to reschedule because of a storm. They sent an email cancelling the trip for the day and did a follow up call. It was easy to reschedule and they offered to refund your money. I recommend take the trip. Cap'n Rod is very informative, provides a lot of... More

What a fabulous four hours of just good-ole' story tellin', laughin', and learnin' with the great Captain Rod! We saw dolphins and bald eagles and gators, got to the Shell Island and found quite a few neat shells -- but most of the really cute small ones were already inhabited by tiny hermit crabs so of course you leave them... The cruise was wonderful, and Cap'n Rod's stories were quite entertaining. He shared so much history of the Grand Strand region, especially the Georgetown area. We'll take his cruise again when our kids come to visit next year.
