About Kingfisher Guide Service
For the majority of the year Kingfisher Guide Service is located in Georgetown S.C. which offers complete access to 1200 acres of the protected Winyah Bay Estuary. The bay is a prime fishing site due to the confluence of the Pee Dee, Black, Waccamaw, and Sampit rivers. As the estuary with the third largest watershed on the east coast, Winyay Bay reserve resourses range from tidal and transitional marshes to oyster reefs, beaches, and inter-tidal flats. Teeming with wildlife, the marshes around Georgetown offer year round fishing and tremendous opportunities to sight-fish for “uneducated” redfish and more.

Great guide. I have booked with him a number of times and he always works hard to get you on fish. He is crazy knowledgable about how fish think and move. I would highly recommend and will book again with him.

I fished with Capt. Weaver the week after Thanksgiving. The original plan was to fish inshore, but the evening before our scheduled trip Capt. Weaver called and changed the venue to off-shore. He wanted to focus on Drum...no arguments here. I will keep this review brief. The conditions were far less than favorable (sea, wind and temperature). We got skunked at the two areas he targeted. Third location, BINGO! I caught them on spin, and fly. Look at the pics. Bottom line: Capt. Weaver is a professional. His is driven by his passion.

If you fly fish, or prefer light tackle, Capt. Newman Weaver is your man. As an experienced, ex-fishing guide(in western Wyoming/eastern Idaho) and someone who has hired guides for multiple species in Florida, Louisiana, Missouri & more.. I know the difference between a good fishing guide and a great guide that will help take your fishing and your knowledge of fishing to the next level. I have had the pleasure of fishing with Capt. Newman on multiple occasions and each time he exceeds my expectations. He is fun to be around and will put you on the fish. All while helping you learn more about the sport, the area that you are fishing, and the species you are targeting. He is genuine in many ways. Odds are you will step off his boat with an expanded knowledge, improved skills and a few grip n' grin photos that will make your friends jealous of your experience. Simply put, you can't go wrong with Kingfisher Guide Service.

I have fished with Captain Newman Weaver four times over the last six years. I can recommend his services without any hesitation. His knowledge of the area history, local fishery and wildlife truly enhances the experience you will have on his boat. Whether you are fly fishing for Reds, spin casting for Specks or after Tarpon, Capt. Weaver has the skill and experience to give you the best shot at having a successful day on the water. His equipment is top-notch and his boat clean and well maintained. The best part of the day for me has always been sitting down at the end of the day, having a beer with him and talking fishing. Captain Weaver has an honest, and infectious, passion for what he does. A quality that sadly is becoming exceedingly rare.

Newman is a real pro. Not only in putting you on the fish, but pointing out the various wildlife in the area. Really knows his stuff. If you want to catch tarpon or redfish, this is your guy. Price is fair, his equipment is excellent, and his knowledge of the waters is impressive.
