I have some back issues and have had many massages. Sam at Malama Massage provided what is undoubtedly the best I have ever had!! I left a message to book my treatment and Sam called me right back to schedule for the very next day. The shop is clean and comfortable. I left feeling fabulous. I will plan to come back each time we visit Folly - definitely a
must-do for a relaxing, healthy vacation!

We came to get away and relax and boy did they take care of the relaxing part. Sam and Marisa were great. I have had many massages but these guys could teach some of the others ones a lesson or two. I have never had someone stretch me like that and it was wonderful. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get a great messages

I was on day 3 of a week long vacation on Folly beach when I threw my back out. Being a LMT myself, I have a thorough understanding of usually what’s the better things to do in these types of situations. So, after being reduced to a turtle’s pace for a day due to my tight & sore muscles, I decided to take a morning yoga on the beach class. Unfortunately, this only brought temporary relief. Thus, I hit the internet to start searching for a convenient, quality deep tissue massage therapist. Out of the 3-4 websites that I came across, Mālama massage resonated the most with me. Sam’s training/experience/knowledge of Neuromuscular therapy was actually my deciding factor. (I personally love NMT!) Luckily for me, Sam was able to fit me into his schedule the very next day! It was the BEST deep tissue massage that I’ve received in several years, hand’s down!! No regrets at all!!! I am quite particular about who I allow to work on me...and Sam knocked the ball out of the park!
Sam is a very kind & talented LMT. He was able to assess my situation and properly decipher what was going on in my body...and effectively begin the gnarly “unraveling” process of my muscle tension. I felt so much better upon the completion of our massage! Thank you Sam for your time, compassion and skill set! Without a doubt, the next time I find myself at Folly beach, SC. I will be scheduling another appointment with Sam at Mālama massage! If you are still reading this review, do yourself a HUGE favor and schedule a session with Sam. You will NOT regret it! 2 THUMBS UP!!! :-)

This was an amazing treat that my girlfriend surprised me with as soon as we got to folly. I had been driving the whole way down and she had a appointment scheduled. It was a perfect way to relax and receive some of the best therapeutic treatment I've ever had. Treated not just my body but my spirit also.

Sam and Dana were awesome! My sister in law and I went on our last day of vacation and what a perfect ending to a great stay. We loved everything about it! They stretch your arms and legs and it is truly a total body massage! Loved that they have a conversation with you before and after .... Just fantastic... We will be back.

All too often, we live with pain. We adjust our bodies to it...and then we forget injuries, wounds, and muscle stress. As a former dancer + performer, my body was reawakened to its full potential by therapist Sam York at Mālama Massage Therapy on Mālama Massage Therapy on Folly Beach. All I can say is: GO. NOW. Sam has 'listening hands' that will adjust to your comfort level, find + release the source of problems that you probably forgot about, and he is a truly terrific person who will make you comfortable immediately. He has adjusted my scoliosis, realigned my hips, and released muscle tension that was holding onto mental tension. (armpits, wrists, ankles, and the base of the skull [for me]... who knew?) The entire Malama team was there when I visited, and they are all of the same mind: To bring healing to the community of Folly Beach, Charelston, South Carolina + beyond thru excellent care. I hear they're planning on offering their restful space to the neighborhood for yoga + masssage workshops soon. YES! I, for one, can't wait to book again.

I had pulled my lower back out and Sam got things to relax enough for it to find its way home. Very relaxing too. So good I took a card for my brother that lives on John's island.

Just what was needed mid week to make it through the rental rickety bed back. Sam was able to fit my husband and I in last minute with Calle for massages at separate staggered times. Both Calle and Sam met me prior to the massage and asked what I wanted out of the massage. She was able to get some knots worked out and helped me with some stretches to get me through the week. She was able to loosen up my husbands very tight muscles which is no small feat and he felt much better too. Highly recommend. Very professional. Wish we were able to use Malama on a regular basis but we will definitely be back next time we are near Folly.
