While enjoying the sun and surf, we walked over to the long fishing pier and enjoy watching our nephew run and chase the birds. There were many people fishing off the pier and it appeared they have a weekly contest for the largest catch. This...More

Fun pier just a short walk from several lunch and dinner spots on Folly Beach. Not as commercial as some of the piers you'll find in the Northeast or on the West Coast. Nice walk to a two level, pavilion type structure at the end...More

Visited in the afternoon... was a great walk to see all the people fishing. Caught a $4 tall boy at the bar and took in the view.

Big Sur, Not sure on license info but you can buy everything you need at the pier. The locals are friendly and will share bait type and whats hitting at the moment. The Hungry Detective

I would try calling the bait shop at the pier. As I recall, they post daily the top 3 fish that are being caught. I'm pretty sure they are aware of the seasonal trends.
