Highlight of our stay in Charleston!

The whole team at Carolina Salt Surf Lessons is incredible. Within the first few minutes in the water, all three of our kids (none of whom had ever surfed before) were standing on the boards riding waves on their own! It was the highlight of our time in Charleston - the kids loved surfing so much we rented the boards for the rest of the day. Couldn't recommend them more - the experience was wonderful.

Dream Come True!

If you are looking to get the thrill of a lifetime go ahead and book Kyle. I cannot rave enough about him and Dawson. If I could relive my childhood I would have started surfing as a teen, but it's never too late! This was not my first time learning, but it was my first time feeling like I actually surfed. I also felt 100% safe with these gentlemen and appreciated Kyle bringing out the gutsy 'go for it' spirit in me that had me riding waves longer than I could have imagined. Dawson is awesome and his guidance got me surfing more times than I ever expected. Kyle... that right I caught Friday is a ride I will absolutely never forget! You guys are THE BEST!

You MUST get a lesson!

Kyle is AMAZING!!! We went to his late morning surfing, ate at a local restaurant he recommended, then came back for a paddleboarding tour. Kyle was extremely personable and gave very good instruction! We got to chat about the history of South Carolina and were suggested "non-touristy" things to do. Kyle is the bee's knees, if you don't come here you're truly missing out!

Horrific.

Don’t waste your time booking thru this company. After changing my lessons three times via email, I showed up only to find my instructor wasn’t able to give the lesson. The owner insulted me over text and blamed his inability to properly communicate because he’s busy and has a baby at home. He threatened me that he’s the only lessons on IOP so take it or leave it, basically. No apology, but did tell me via text that after talking about my complaint he and his buddies agree that not rescheduling lessons with me was a blessing in disguise. Worst service I have ever received! I’m a local and would never recommend them to anyone!!!

Amazing experience with Kyle and his great team. I am 53 and my daughter is 11 and he has her up within 30 minutes..took a little longer for me. A fantastic time with lots of laughs and great insight as well. We will be back for more lessons and highly recommend Kyle and his crew to all ages and skill levels.

We have been doing surf camp/lessons with Kyle for 7 years. We visit Folly every year for a week and lessons/camp with Kyle are a must. My 13 year old has the ability to surf on her own (only surfing 1 week a year and on her own board) and it is entirely due to Kyle and his team. Kyle is a great teacher, easy to talk to, and knows these waters better than anyone giving lessons. We Highly Recommend!

Best surfing experience to date!

I am a Charleston local and have taken surf lessons with most companies here. Carolina Salt was by far my favorite. Kyle, Owner/ Instructor, is technical, empowering, and hilarious. His coaching style will make you feel confident catching waves even if you are a beginner. Highly recommend!

Great learning experience for my son

Kyle and Brycen made my son’s (JP) surfing lessons and experience very special. They taught him not only about surfing, but to have respect for the ocean. Highlight was watching JP learning how to turn down the line and ridding the entire length of the wave. Next year he wants you guys to set him up to get “barreled”…

My 11-year old will never be the same!

Kyle was fantastic in every way! His communication was top notch. He answered all my questions to calm my nerves about my child's first lessons. He was incredibly patient, supportive, and enthusiastic with my daughter! He was extremely generous with his time, energy, equipment, and availability. No wonder he's been voted and reviewed so highly! After meeting Kyle, there's no way we'd ever go anywhere else for our surfing needs. He also was so helpful with information about paddleboards. We brought our own boards and he was happy to share tips and advice regarding great/safe spots to explore.

Keep coming back for more

For the past two days, Kyle and his team have helped both my kids have an amazing experience on the waves. My son is 9 with limited motor function, but he's having so much fun that we are adding 2 more days. My daughter is getting more confident as well with Kyle's help. She's a first time surfer and is excited to come back each morning for more. We did 90 minute lessons, which we thought was ideal. If you're looking for small group lessons from a pro, you cannot go wrong with Carolina Salt Surf!
