If you are looking to get the thrill of a lifetime go ahead and book Kyle. I cannot rave enough about him and Dawson. If I could relive my childhood I would have started surfing as a teen, but it's never too late! This was not my first time learning, but it was my first time feeling like I actually surfed. I also felt 100% safe with these gentlemen and appreciated Kyle bringing out the gutsy 'go for it' spirit in me that had me riding waves longer than I could have imagined. Dawson is awesome and his guidance got me surfing more times than I ever expected. Kyle... that right I caught Friday is a ride I will absolutely never forget! You guys are THE BEST!

Kyle is AMAZING!!! We went to his late morning surfing, ate at a local restaurant he recommended, then came back for a paddleboarding tour. Kyle was extremely personable and gave very good instruction! We got to chat about the history of South Carolina and were suggested "non-touristy" things to do. Kyle is the bee's knees, if you don't come here you're truly missing out!

The whole team at Carolina Salt Surf Lessons is incredible. Within the first few minutes in the water, all three of our kids (none of whom had ever surfed before) were standing on the boards riding waves on their own! It was the highlight of our time in Charleston - the kids loved surfing so much we rented the boards for the rest of the day. Couldn't recommend them more - the experience was wonderful.

Don’t waste your time booking thru this company. After changing my lessons three times via email, I showed up only to find my instructor wasn’t able to give the lesson. The owner insulted me over text and blamed his inability to properly communicate because he’s busy and has a baby at home. He threatened me that he’s the only lessons on IOP so take it or leave it, basically. No apology, but did tell me via text that after talking about my complaint he and his buddies agree that not rescheduling lessons with me was a blessing in disguise. Worst service I have ever received! I’m a local and would never recommend them to anyone!!!

I am a Charleston local and have taken surf lessons with most companies here. Carolina Salt was by far my favorite. Kyle, Owner/ Instructor, is technical, empowering, and hilarious. His coaching style will make you feel confident catching waves even if you are a beginner. Highly recommend!

We have been doing surf camp/lessons with Kyle for 7 years. We visit Folly every year for a week and lessons/camp with Kyle are a must. My 13 year old has the ability to surf on her own (only surfing 1 week a year and on her own board) and it is entirely due to Kyle and his team. Kyle is a great teacher, easy to talk to, and knows these waters better than anyone giving lessons. We Highly Recommend!

Kyle and Brycen made my son’s (JP) surfing lessons and experience very special. They taught him not only about surfing, but to have respect for the ocean. Highlight was watching JP learning how to turn down the line and ridding the entire length of the wave. Next year he wants you guys to set him up to get “barreled”…

My 9 year old daughter did surf camp for first time with Carolina Salt and loved every minute! The instructors are incredible and she was up on the board within 30 mins of her first lesson! She could not stop taking about how much fun she was having and already asking to do another week! I can not recommend Carolina Salt Surf Camp enough to anyone from beginner to just wanting to get better by these instructors! They even had chairs and umbrellas set up for parents to use while kids were at camp! We will be back and my youngest is already excited to sign up for next year when she’s a stronger swimmer! I also felt so safe with her with the instructors the whole time and she learned a lot of water safety tips! Thanks Carolina Salt for the best week at the beach! Also thanks for the amazing picture of our girl in action!

Amazing experience with Kyle and his great team. I am 53 and my daughter is 11 and he has her up within 30 minutes..took a little longer for me. A fantastic time with lots of laughs and great insight as well. We will be back for more lessons and highly recommend Kyle and his crew to all ages and skill levels.

Kelly was on site for our lesson himself. I’ve taken another lesson from a company on North Shore of Hawaii. Kelly’s instruction was way more helpful. We had whole family, two adults, two teens, 12-year and 9-year olds. Each one of us got up quickly under Kelly’s instruction, and he gave us the tools we need to move forward on our own. If you are thinking of doing this, you should! Highly recommend!

I'm really interested in a surfing lesson and a paddle board tour, but I'm staying in downtown Charleston and won't have a car. How far is it to the meeting locations? Will I be able to take a cab or uber? I can't figure out how to contact you on your website. Thanks

The number will show up if you just google the name of the company. Folly beach is probably the closest beach that they service. It is approximately a 20 minute Uber ride out to the beach. Depending on where downtown you are staying. I'm not with the company by the way - But we have taken multiple lessons and absolutely love taking lesson with these guys.
