My boyfriend and I were visiting the Charleston area on a short, 3 day vacation. This was the perfect excursion for couples, families, or anyone interested in beautiful scenery and viewing aquatic life. Our guide (who I unfortunately forgot the name of!!) was awesome, very informative of the area and super fun to talk with. He had a great attitude for the tour.
We had gone on the sunset boat tour and I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, with views of the local lighthouse and town. The boat was smaller which allowed up close and personal dolphin sightings, which we saw over a dozen of. If I’m ever back in the area, I’d hands down visit this business again!

Our guide Deas was awesome customizing our experience on our skills andabilities. And most importantly allowed me to lay back and take care of my river sickness (too much cigar out of the gate, bad food at lunch, and some wakes I could have done without at the time. I recovered, my wife stopped going in circles and our daughter eventually stopped laughing and started paddling again. All in all a great way to see the moon rise the sunset, the dolphins frolic And spot your fishing spot for later

We had a fantastic time on this two hour adventure. Our group was made up of two families with teens 16+ and varying degrees of comfort in a kayak. Our guide was fantastic - patient and funny - as he ran us through the skills and safety precautions needed.
The tour headed out on tidal creeks, crossed a river, and continued in tidal creeks. We saw dolphins inches from us, pelicans diving, fish jumping and loads of other marsh wildlife.
The weather and tides changed while we were out and our guide rerouted the group calmly and efficiently. We didn't have a phone for pictures and our guide was kind enough to take some pictures for us on his phone and text them to us.
This was an absolute highlight of our trip. Highly recommended.

Put us on a boat, drive us out about 30 minutes with no touring, no talking not telling us anything about the area or dolphins. Nothing. When we didn't see any dolphins, lands the boat on an empty island and said ok you can go walk on the beach for 30 minutes then we will head back! Seen a couple dolphins by chance on the way back. Again no tour giving, just a boat ride. For $45 a person it was a total rip off

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your boat ride. September is one of the best months to be on the water on Folly as it's not too hot and not too cold. My favorite part is the colors in the marsh grass! The grass sprouts it's seeds which gives a vibrant glow of the green stalk to the wheat colored seeds. Especially if your close to sunset and the light makes grass glow. Morris Island itself is a secluded gem; it's full of shells and sits in the shadows of a gorgeous old lighthouse. In your review you mentioned that you didn't see any dolphins before you got dropped off on the island but you did seen them on the way back. Mission accomplished! What a great way to spend an afternoon!

We did the sunset tour. It was a beautiful night and a lovely sunset but it definitely could have been better. We floated down the “river” at a slow pace and stopped a few times to do nothing. We saw a mother and baby dolphin which was really cool. Then we went into the marsh area and slowly killed time. Our guide was clearly trying to kill time and wasn’t very knowledgeable about much we were looking at or how to find wildlife. Anything we saw was found by a person on the tour. We literally just sat in grassy marsh for a 10-15 mins not looking for anything or pointing out anything interesting, just sitting. They took some photos of our group which turned out good and emailed us. Then we headed back super slow again and randomly stopped for no reason. The guide mentioned several times we were ahead of schedule. We hadn’t done much or explored much so it was hard to believe there was much of a well thought out schedule. Finally about 9 mins before sunset the guide announced “there is a great place to see a sunset 10 mins for here”. We paddled like our life depended on it to get to the spot in time. Why not get there earlier when we weren’t doing anything? The guide was very new to this and could have used better training. The kayaks were pretty well beat up even for a rental place.
It was a good evening, but definitely feel like with a little more effort on their part it would have been amazing. Everyone we dealt with was nice too.

Our sunset kayak tour was full of surprises! We booked this tour for our family of 4 (two kids are 12 & 7), not knowing everything we’d see & experience on the Folly River. Our tour guide, Charlie, provided us with a wealth of information on the marshes, tides, & all the wildlife on the river. He guided us along the River & showed us where the dolphins come in through the low tide areas. It was so fun to watch them jump & play out of the water! We also saw many different birds and learned about oyster behaviors/wildlife patterns. The beautiful sunset on the way back to the dock was an added bonus! We all had a great time and Charlie provided us with a wonderful experience for our family! Thank you, Flipper Finders!

The sunset kayak tour my family (2 adults, 2 kids (9 and 16), and a pup) took last week was one of the highlights of our visit to Charleston. It was our first time kayaking and the guide made us feel completely comfortable. Flipper Finders was also very accommodating and were willing to make it work so that our Labradoodle puppy could join us on the tour!! We all had a great time and got to see a family of dolphins, birds, and even had a rare sighting of some feeding fish with their tails out of the water.

Strong winds whipped up a few whitecaps, but the crew at Flipper Finders found a way to accommodate the experienced kayakers among us. Children stayed ashore.Truthfully, the waters were calm once past the drop off point, and we skimmed through native grasses like pros. Our guide explained the terrain, and yes, I highly recommend Flipper Finders for a Folly Beach fun-filled adventure.

My son and I were, very, impressed, and, very, satisfied with the, 4-hour dolphin, boat tour on February 8, 2023! Our, boat, captain spent a lot of time engaging with us, and, conveying a wealth of facts and information! He was personable, and, truly, enjoys his job! He made, special, efforts to steer toward, several, dolphin, pods and followed them for 20 minutes. He, was, very, knowledgeable about the history of the waterways, oyster beds, aquatic birds, and, the islands, and,, he was thorough in his explanations. It was an informative and relaxing, boat tour and, we, highly, recommend Will Smith, our, boat, captain who was welcoming and patient with all our questions.

My boyfriend and I had a great time kayaking. Our tour guide, Charlie, was super personable and knew a lot about the marine life in the area. The sunset was absolutely beautifyl, and we were lucky enough to see some dolphins and a sea turtle! I would definitely recommend Flipper Finders to anyone visiting Folly beach

Do i need to book a boat in advance? I couldn't find the contact information online.

If you google Flipper Finders, it will show you a phone number. I called them before I booked because the day I was looking at had rain in the forecast. They were super nice, said don’t worry, if it rains - we will reschedule to another day and make it work. I did book a few days in advance, especially now that it’s warm - I’m sure you would need to book in advance to ensure a spot

What should be worn on a dolphin tour? Is a bathing suit recommended?

Certainly a bathing suit, but bring lots of sunscreen and a hat! We did not have a chance to get out of the kayak on our trip, but depending on the direction you go you may have the opportunity.

are you still doing tours the second and third week of November - either the day tours or the sundown tours
It's our off season but if we are around and the weather is nice I'm sure we could arrange something. What type of tour are you looking to do? How many people? Best way to communicate if via email. flipperfinders gmail
