Charleston SUP Safaris are wonderful, great communication Laine not sure on spelling saw they had missed my call and called me back right away, going over and above trying to set up the best experience for me and time that worked for me!! She was great at calming my anxiety over trying to do something new!! Kate gave me a wonderful lesson tailored to me, see was so patient and kind. She did not make me feel bad that I was having a hard time learning how to SUP. Helped get me back on the board when I fell off!! She made me feel safe and secure!! I am coming back next week for another lesson with Kate she is amazing!!!!

I booked a kayak tour, in hopes of seeing dolphins up close . I was fortunate to get a private tour with John, who was very knowledgeable about the tide, birds, oysters , vegetation etc. It happened to also be the day of the solar eclipse, so John had us paddle into a quiet area where no one else was. We watched the start of the eclipse there. We later paddled out and stopped every so often to see the progress of the eclipse . He paddled at a pace I was comfortable with, shared his knowledge of the water and surrounding area, and pointed out several birds and a dolphin well before I saw them. To my delight, the dolphin swam right past us! This was an enjoyable 2 hours !! Thanks John!!

This was only their second tour of the season, but everything ran like a well-oiled machine. Our tour guides were knowledgeable, kind, and funny even as the wind picked up and made for more paddling than sunset-watching. I wish I had more time to have done another paddle board tour with SUP Safaris since I enjoyed this one so much.

Had our family go on the kayak dolphins tour. The staff was great and the tour was amazing. Our guide Abby really new her stuff when it can to the sea life in the area and a great instructor on the kayaks for me 2kids 10 &15. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great time learning to paddleboard with Jacob. Our 8-year old grandson, also Jacob, learned to stand up first time, thanks to the abundant patience of our guide.

Seven of us, 5 adults with a 14 and 11 year old took the SUP paddle board guided tour with Eric and Luke. We were put with another group of 6 people. The experience was excellent. Great easy to understand instructions from our guides on land and in the water. The 2 children and 2 of the adults had never boarded before but the guides were very helpful and had everyone enjoying themselves throughout the 2 hour tour. Eric and Luke even called ahead and ordered a school of dolphins to join us (kidding aside we were lucky enough to see 6 or 7 dolphin up close during our tour).
Highly recommend SUP and if you can take the early tour.

Thanks for the great review and letting others know that SUP Safaris begins every tour with ground school that offers a review of all the skills needed to be great first time or repeat paddlers. We can take the whole family out on the water, and kids 8 and older take out their own SUPs. Dolphins always please everyone when they swim around us. We can't call them on our shell phones, but they live in the water and are always searching for fish to eat.

We were first time SUP-ers. Our tour guide/instructor Alex gave a quick but informative lesson and we were on the water. Water was like glass, so it was easy to get our balance, and within a few minutes were paddling with confidence. Alex had a ton of knowledge about the local dolphins, and about 20 minutes later there were dolphins everywhere. A few even surfaced within a few feet of us. You can't be sure that will happen every time, but is sure was cool.

My husband and I (who are inexperienced paddle boarders) had a great time. It was my first time on the board and I felt well prepared to go out on the water. It was strenuous paddling against the wind/current on the way out, but we took a nice water break and learned about the marine life before an easy ride back in thanks to the current/wind. We saw some dolphins too! Our guides were very knowledgeable and kind. It was an awesome experience and I highly recommend.

Thanks for the great review, we like to say "Mother nature is always in charge," so we always paddle against the tide or wind first. That guarantees that we can enjoy the fruits of our efforts on the way home. Throw in lots of dolphins, and the Folly River makes magic.

So first off I'll start by saying I am not a tourist but both my wife and I are locals residing in North Charleston for over 20 years. While we've spent numerous times at Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and of course Folly beach we've actually never tried paddle boarding. Kayaking sure but paddle boarding was something we never got around to but boy have we been missing out!
First off the staff at Charleston SUP Safaris were friendly, responsive, and just awesome all around. Hailey was our guide on our morning dolphin safari and she went through all of the do's and don't's of paddle boarding and was very friendly. Sadly we did not see any dolphins but she did go out of her way to guide us all around Folly river as much as she could to hopefully see one. If you're a local or a tourist I would definitely give them a try for sure!

This was an awesome experience. Eric gave wonderful instructions and then guided us on a tour up river where we saw a significant number of dolphins. Some got within a few feet of our boards as they surfaced. Eric gave a great ecology lesson about the life-rich waters on which we were paddling. We have gone on a few SUP tours and this was the most enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour.

Nope just dolphins, Snakes and Alligators live in fresh water and the Folly River is almost 100% salt!
