We had a great time on the tour and it's definitely a must do on Edisto Island. The biodiversity on the island is incredible and absolutely worth seeing from the water. Definitely a dog friendly activity!

I took visiting family on the shell tour with Catherine and it was so fun. She was very knowledgeable. Ranged in age from 65 to nine and everyone was engaged even the teenager. Now our beach walks will be different in that we will look with an eye toward all the information she gave us. Would highly recommend this tour. I’ve taken the ACE Basin tour from. Or any Bay as well and recommend it as well. When visitors come to visit our Edisto Island for the first time these are great activities to help them get to know our area and why it is so special.

Our extended family of 14 enjoyed an amazing meal with Marvetta Hutchinson!! Don't miss the chance to meet her, learn about Gullah culture, and have a delicious meal! We go to Edisto every year and are adding "Cooking with Marvetta" to the list of annual traditions. Thanks Captain Meg and Marvetta for a wonderful experience.

Loved our beach walk with Catherine she was so informative. Usually you go to the beach pick up a few shells swim in the ocean. We got great context on our beach, sea turtles, area history. I can’t recommend this more

As an avid beach lover that enjoys collecting seashells because of their beauty and uniqueness, my eyes have been opened to a new way of looking at the grainy playground. A recent one on one beachcomber’s class with Catherine of Botany Bay Ecotours, widened my knowledge base. After a rain storm passed with a few lingering drops here and there, our class began with the look at a sea turtle skull and the cavity that holds its tiny brain but the incredible work that goes on inside it. From there I learned of the plants and flowers that grow on the beach, the explanation of sand erosion, the water that flows into the Atlantic (ACE) and more. Catherine explained some of the common shells I collected; yellow cockle, oysters and a pen shell for example. Her easy manner and wealth of knowledge made it easy for me to ask questions as she pointed out examples of her teachings. The funny thing was, days after meeting Catherine, I thought I didn’t retain any of the things she told me. Not true. During another shelling event, I understood the seashells I purposefully collected with increased knowledge as I studied the beach with new intent. Many thanks to Catherine for her time and the books she suggested that I read for more research.
