Run down, not worth a visit

The park is a mess - grass not well maintained, playground broken and beaten up. It's a great space - plenty of it with water and playgrounds. But really not worth a visit... read more

Park has definitely gone down hill. We are from PA stopping through on our way to FL and decided to take a stroll with our two little kids and were beyond disappointed. Homeless people everywhere, feels unsafe. No playground for the kids, dirty. DO NOT GO HERE!

My husband & I were driving through town & decided to visit this park. The photo online look beautiful, but we got here & were disappointed. The fountains were not on & did not appear to have been on for several months. There were several homeless people sleeping throughout the park & trash cans were broken with trash on the... More

This park was once a beautiful vibrant park with walkways, playground, fountains, concerts and lovely open spaces. It is now run down, and in some parts dangerous because it has not been maintained. There are homeless people everywhere, under trees, on benches, everywhere. The City needs to revitalize this park to take advantage of this wonderful downtown space and make... More

Such a lovely part right in the middle of Columbia and something always going on! Concerts, community fairs and activities, movies - the list is long and varied as are the people who frequent this unique attraction.

While preparing for our trip to Columbia, I researched different places to visit. Of course, Finlay Park on was our list. We went to see the beautiful fountain, but instead, found the fountain not on, and it didn't seem very safe.

The fountains and waterfalls were not on. Huge disappointment for the kids. Difficult to navigate with a stroller. Hangout for the local homeless. Nice swinging benches but most had a homeless person on them so we couldn't use them as we needed two side by side, The view of the city was nice from the park. Good picture opportunities.

Very peaceful setting. While traveling I had all my days free. Great place to just visit and relax if the heat was not so bad would have stayed longer

We were unable to see the beauty of the whole park because the locals, I believe, who spend the night there are occupying most of the benches. We just arrived and my wife and son backed out because the locals were staring at us! Don't go if you are not ready to protect yourself!

The park is a mess - grass not well maintained, playground broken and beaten up. It's a great space - plenty of it with water and playgrounds. But really not worth a visit. Some trees and shade would be nice! Maybe it was nicer 30 years ago or whenever it was last fixed up.

After paying the parking meter, we were approached by what appeared to be a homeless man asking for money. Since we aren't from around the area, my husband graciously gave him the 50 cents he requested. He also asked for a smoke. Lol. I walked around what looks like it used to be a pretty place only to walk back... More
